hey AFN iam just about to harvest my first stone dragon, and i really wanna get the drying and curing process done properly this time as my previous attempts i have left them dry out a little too much, so i was doing some research here and online and this is what i came up with, if anyone notices anything i have missed out or could do better then i would appreciate the help :smokebuds:

1. cut and trim buds
2. start drying until dry on outside or stem/branch snaps
3. put in to kilner jars with humidity guage
4. check daily and check humidity

more than 70% still too wet dry for another 12-24 hours
65-70% humidity leave jar open for 2-4 hours until humidity gets under 65% and add 62% humidipak, then leave to cure but keep a close eye on the humidity levels

do you think this sounds good to get the proper cure?

and yes i do think that it sounds good ....you will find that growers develop there on spin on the same process ...like i use brown bags i trim my plant down to the bud leafs hang the whole plant then i fine trim and into brown bags until crisp ..not that crisp ......then into jars and ajust like you stated until 62%....

hope my 2cents helps

I have always dried and cured in my humidor box when I cut plants one by one every week but My last run I used brown bags due to chopping all plants at once and I was very satisfied with the taste and aroma of the buds. When I use humidor after trim I put the buds in it and close it for 48 hours opening every 12 to check the moisture and keep the humidity around 60-70 % and for 6-7 days they are ready for jars. It's kind of initial curing and aim is to distribute humidity even before the buds dry out. Don't let your buds to over dry or the smoke will be harsh.
Enjoy the harvest brother :smokebuds:

thanks for the tips folks, i forgot to add that i will be drying in brown bags :Stones slap: stone i have been looking at some of those humidors, some of them have crazy prices, but a nice piece of kit,

You can find cheap humidors mate. I got mine from a James Fox shop couple of years ago for ... 95 euros :Stones slap:
Check out alibongo as well :tiphat:
I love my box - very handy to play and achieve the humidity I want before storing in jars. Where did you get 62% humidipak in UK?
I want to try this method, too.

Your theory sounds perfect, I love the curing stage almost as much as the growing stage.
Opening the jar to burp them and breathing in that gorgeous aroma is like nirvana, inhale deeply and feel that big cheesy grin spread across your face as you contemplate how good it will be to smoke.
Its like being a kid on Christmas eve, but we get our Christmas eve more than once a year.
From reading these posts on curing it makes me realise Ive just been very lucky with it, Ive never checked humidity or even come close to the level of detail in the thread that CGR put a link to in a preceding post. Definitely worth reading and my next cure I shall follow the instructions to the letter to see just what a difference it will make, I expect good things.

Jars are cool but I don't have the time to burp a 100 jars 8 times a day. Friends have used 30 gallon rubbermaids but one lost a coulple lbs due to mold. He put in to damp. Tried to tell him.. Humidor is cool. I been to a cigar shopand droooled at the walkin ones. Wow some day baby.
