Grow Mediums My family's recirculating deep water culture

Day 49

The Owner of my favorite local hydro store said, "Using the Canna Boost you will notice almost instant results." She was so right. I currently feed our girls one hour after lights on at 6am. We also feed again at 2:30pm. Yesterday I gave the res 10ml of boost per gal of water. After one feeding yesterday afternoon and the two feedings today the main top cola widened from 1-1/8 inch to 1-1/2 inches in less than a days time!!!!! Also we have dialed in the ppm to ph ratio. 3 days ago when we did a nutrient change we set the ppm at 1140 and ph of 5.5 using 10 gal of water. Today there is about 8 gal in the res, the ph is holding at 5.5 and the ppm 1139 (as shown above in the pictures). For those new to growing this is a very important step in the growing process. Plants need to use the nutrients in proportion to the water uptake. NO MATTER HOW MUCH WATER THE PLANTS DRINK THE PPM'S SHOULD BE CLOSE TO WHEN YOU DID THE WATER CHANGE. Obviously the more plants you have the harder this is to maintain, so if your new to growing start off with fewer plants until you get the hang of it. Just some food for thought. Happy growing to all and I hope your enjoying my journal. :D:

Hell yeah. I'm only 5 days behind you. Hope mine start swellin up like yours!:Holy Moly::slap:

4 Weeks Left.....If all goes well!

Less than a week ago we had a small issue with the height on one of the ladies...too tall compared to the others
IMG_20131104_191949.jpg

We decided to tie her down and create an even canopy! Amazing how over 4 days all of the small bud sites that made up the main cola are now standing straight up toward the light. I literally turned one top into ten or so tops!!!

And as you can see the rest of the girls below are thriving in their glory. It's getting to be hard to stay out of the grow room when you can literally leave, come back in a couple of hours and see a noticeable difference!

Happy Growing to All, and as Always, Thank You AFN

Day 50

We are coming to the end of another week on our schedule. Tomorrow or the day after we will flush with a light solution (ppm 500), then we will let the plants dry out completely. I usually dry them out for 3-5 days, this time frame varies. I usually look for the weight of the plant and bucket to be less than half of what it was when the drying process starts. I have found that this is very important to do between week2 and week5 of flower at least twice. Once the plants are good and dry I will fill the res with new nutes (ppm 1200) and watch the magic happen. I need a good swell because of the small number of plants this time. My main focus with only doing 4 plants this time was to try and pay more attention to the little details and move myself from an average grower to an exceptional grower. I have learned a ton this time around and I am already looking forward to the next grow!! I will see everyone at the end of the week with new pics and hopefully get myself ready for the weigh in at the end!!!! Thank you AFN for all the help, and I hope that I have helped someone along the way as well. Happy Growing To All

Day 54

After a few days of drying out and lowering the humidity in the room (which from experience is important at this stage in the game), there is approximately 3 weeks left. I think, this is true but I'm not so sure. Everything in me wants to follow the breeders suggestions of being 70 day plants. As we all know, thru marketing schemes and what not, the time frame on the seed package is not always true. This is ok, none of us have so called "lab settings" with "optimal conditions". I am overly thrilled that there hasn't been any disease, nute lock-out, or worse. Plus considering the fact that it feels at times I've done almost everything wrong, I kinda expect my girls to be a week or so overdue. However, I have seen noticeable changes in the ladies.

One week agoIMG_20131107_012611.jpgIMG_20131106_231041.jpgIMG_20131108_114606.jpg

This Morning(respectively)IMG_20131115_013002 - Copy.jpgIMG_20131115_013051 - Copy.jpgIMG_20131115_013147 - Copy.jpg

I have a question for AFN and will greatly appreciate everyone's help. The humidity in the room goes from the high 60's when the ac is on to the low 50's-high 40's. Is it safe to say that I will be all right for the last 3 weeks of flower when low humidity brings on the "sparkles" induced by resin production? I have done a lot wrong in this grow yet they seem to be strong. I just want the last three weeks to go swimmingly. Any input on best final procedures are helpful. If anybody has any tricks they wish to give away, I will use them and pass them on in hopes we all can grow the best meds possible. If I should buy a dehumidifier say so, if not explain why not. Greatly appreciated, and as always Happy Growing to All!

Bro I wouldn't worry too much on the humidity. Just me though. When the humidity is high in my room I try to dial in my extraction fan to the sweet spot or open up the door for a bit.
How do you know you only got three weeks left? How do the trichomes look? I've been following the autoflower lifecycle, their is a link in my journal, somewhere. It has been spot on. Your only a few days ahead of me and I'm lookin at 5 weeks ish before final flush. Just some thoughts.
Lookin great trees!

Day 67!!!!!! I have a Question???

It's been a minute, but I'm back with some pics. The first picture is the lot of 4 plants together, the others are individual main colas. The first picture looks like it is about a dozen plants, but it is only 4. The best thing I did on this grow was tie down the tall plant. I did this due to the fact that it was only 6 inches from the 600w hps and it was getting a bit of heat stress. Not knowing this plant was about 2 weeks behind the others (phenotype is more sativa...just my guess), it tricked itself into growing several tops because of the bend. It is truly amazing and glowing with crystals. There are some pics of a few individual colas. The last pic I got super lucky and have no clue how I got it to have a black background and in such good detail with an lg phone. Looking through a 100x microscope one of the plants has 50 cloudy/50 amber trichomes. I've read the lifecycle of an autoflower and it says the leaves will turn yellow and fall off, then you have a week to flush...done! But here is my dilemma, the trichomes are where I want them yet the leaves, even the fan leaves, are still a vibrant green color. Healthy to the point they look almost fake. Do I flush now, or am I ok to wait? Here are the pics, enjoy. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated as always...THANK YOU ANF. This is my first serious auto flower grow and the bulk of how I grow are methods I've learned in the past, but, and this is a big BUT, the AUTO FLOWER NETWORK has taught me more in the last 4 months than I've learned on my own in the last 15 years. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. As always, Happy Growing To All.

Personaly, if the trichs are where you want them I'd start choppin the tops. But I like to let my lower buds ride a little longer. That's due mainly to the scrog. 67 days....tuff call. I've not seen many people get um to finish that quick. Their lookin awesome!! If your in now hurry I'd run the flush for a week or so. Without nutes they should start to use up stored enenrgy and yellow.
If you have done a long flush then maybe just sample one and go from there.
Hope that helps.

Beautiful buddy max:slap: i second what Roark said if the tric's are where you want them to be then its time to get choppin!! Good luck here's some harvest :karma Cloud: peace

Thanks AFN family! I knew I could count on you guys. I'm going to take a sample from one of these tasty looking devils and I'll be back soon to tell ya'll about the results. There doesn't seem to be anybody with kalashnikova grows, so I will do my best to let everyone know the details of the smoke. It looks beautiful though. Some spots are so white that the orange hairs are completely snow covered with trics. I am hoping to get 25 grams from the smallest one, 50 or more from each of the 2 medium to large size plants, and from the monster I hope to see 100 grams. From past experience this is not an impossible feat, the buds are rock hard and super sticky, and when touched with fingers there is a strong lemon/citrus smell that is pure delight! I will be back, and as always...Happy Growing to All.
