Grow Mediums My family's recirculating deep water culture

One small Bud

IMG_20131127_150733.jpg

I took one of the small buds from the 3/4 of the way to the top of the plant that looks almost done. As you can see it's gorgeous! Wet, fresh off the plant it weighed 6.91 grams. It was a shock to myself because like I said it was one of the smallest flowers on the plant. Currently it is hanging in the drying area we have set up with a low temp, low humidity, and lack of light but not light proof. So here in a couple of days I will be back with the details. To say the least, I'm super stoked. Taking auto flowers seriously was one of the best moves I've made. I have already made the plans for the next grow. Everyone on this sight has talked up the Think Different strain to the point were it is hard not to go with it. We are going to do a 4x8 ft scrog with a total of 8 TD's. I've seen some 4x4 scrogs with 5 TD's and it looks like it can get out of hand. So I figured I'd double the size of the scrog but not quite double the plant count. We will have 2 600 watt hps and possibly a 400 watt, the 2nd 600 is already in transit and should be here in less than a week. If my plans go the way I see them, it will be like christmas every 80 days or so! All thanks to AFN of course, because without ya'll I would have never ventured down the auto flower path...God bless the internet . Happy Growing to All.

Good idea to cut down the amount of plants to 8. I am going to be going with 4 i n my next scrog, in my 4x4. 5 works, but I think 4 would do just as well. We'll see.
Lookin great trees.

Thank you sir! You are one of my inspirations for the next grow. We already have plans drawn up for the flood table and res that I am going to build custom to fit our room. Unfortunately my room is framed with 1x3's (you can see it in some of the pics), so what I have to work with is kinda set in stone. But as long as I keep the scrog to 8 feet or less, I will still have the room to move around with all the equipment in the room as well. I am at a loss for words as to how well auto's flourish with almost any damn light source. My ultimate dream is to do a hundred outside, ten rows of ten. It's only a dream tho, so I will stick to small and controlled. It seems to work. I tell people that ask to start small, and I've done a good job so far at following my own advice lol.
The biggest of the kalashnikova's we have is going to go as long as possible. It's amazing with like 11 tops, so I'm going to try and let all of the leaves yellow and fall off. If all goes well everyone can see the beast in full maturity by itself. She's a monster for an auto from what I've seen. No pics today, but the small bud I took off to sample is drying slowly. No mold, stickier by the day, and gorgeous. I will be back when completely dry with pics and info. Happy Growing to All.

One down, Three to go!!!!

One of our plants finished a lot earlier than the other three, all of them were different phenotypes. So we decided to chop one down.

We have a grand total of 340.2 grams of wet material!!!! Outstanding in my opinion and my families for that matter. We still have another plant that is about the same size as this one, we have one that is just a bit smaller, and one that is damn near twice as big that we lst'd at the beginning of the flowering stage. So far we are super impressed with Greenhouse Seed's Auto Kalashnikova. Our hands were so sticky when we were done that we couldn't even pick up a cigarette, tricomb heaven, or hell depending on how you look at it. Here is some more porn from last nights festivities. Enjoy, and as always, Happy Growing to All at AFN.

About a week ago I snipped off one of the smaller buds about 3\4 way up the plant to check the smoke quality...A+++ in our opinion! When I cut the plant down last night the main cola weighed an incredible 69.7 grams. It was from the tip of my roommates finger to half the way up the forearm!!!! We will be going with Dutch Passion auto seeds next run, but not for nothing, the Greenhouse Seeds Kalashnikova is one of the largest auto flowers we have seen in any post, from any forum! Happy Growing Everyone, and thank you for following along with us. Every time we log in there are multiple likes on our thread, so thank you once again. We love AFN.

I've been checking our dry chamber every so often. There is a slight breeze in the room, room temp is mid to low 60's and things are drying slowly with the humidity holding steady right around 50%. I am trying to find accurate info on the amount of water weight that will be lost with auto flowers. Is it the same as with photo period plants? My last go with auto flowers I didn't much care about the totals because the plant was tiny and only getting left over light from our main project. Any help will be greatly appreciated as always, thank you. Happy Growing to All at AFN!!!

Finally The Last One Finished!!!!!!!

Well we finally cut down the last of our four auto Kalashnikova's. Before I get into this I want to take the time to thank AFN, so thank you again AFN family! You have truly inspired me and my family, plus we are now auto flower junkies. Seeds are already on the way for our next grow, all auto flowers of course.
This is the one phenotype that had the growth characteristics of the sativa in the strain, density of the indica, and the tricombs of the white widow...all wrapped into one. Truly perfect in my eyes. This is also the one we had to bend due to light height in the room, our best move in the whole grow because it turned one top into about 9 deadly tops as you can see in the pics. With the bend at about 10 inches down from the top it was still a staggering 34" tall, not counting the bend of course. Completely covered in tricombs and an array of massive buds all in less than 90 days, freakin amazing!!! From what I've seen it is definitely BOM award worthy in our eyes. It's came in at a staggering 947 grams after the buds were cut and trimmed. Now it is in the dry room waiting to go in the jars. From the first 3 plants all of our patients were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the smoke, both the high and the taste.
Here is the porn for everyone and I will be back with a final weigh in from all four plants once these last beauties dry completely. First 2 pics are the plant itself before chopping, then 2 pics of the main cola we had to bend, and to finish it off some close ups of the lovely trics that engulfed this entire plant from head to toe. Thanks again AFN, and Happy Growing to All.

Thank you kind sir!!! Dude you just made my month with your post. I am truly humbled by the amount of knowledge I've gained and continue to gain from AFN. To all noobies out there, do yourself a favor and read this site, reread, and read again if you have too. You will be blessed in the end by the knowledge you gain from the people here. Everyone is outstanding for what has been created and I hope this site flourishes in the future. I will begin my next thread in about 2 weeks, 7 Think Different's in a 4x7 scrog with with 2 600w HPS for the lights. Still haven't decided 100% on the nutes, but I know one thing for sure, rock wool cubes will be used because we were that impressed with them, especially after harvest and looking at the root structure throughout the cubes. Give them a try, you will not be let down! Stay tuned for more, and Happy Growing To All.
