New Grower My first Auto Grow!!

Are you 100% sure there's nothing wrong with your pH meter? Like it needing new batteries or maybe the probe went bad? Do you have another probe that you can check it off of?

I would get a cheap shaker tester (fish store) and check it that way to see if it's close...that flush with hydrated lime should have affected the runoff bigtime.

my ph meter tests 7.0 in the test solution !!

ok i did a lil checking and muddy called for a Tablespoon of lime per gl. i only used a teaspoon!thinking of adding a lil more to the girls?? also somthing weird when i fed today the water in the northern just ran off like crazy! the hash watering was just like always got my run off and it soaked it up but the northern did not! Any thoughts?

If you only used a teaspoon, I would go with the total dosage Muddy recommended.

As far as the runoff on the Northern, has she gotten too dry recently? The times I've had that happen, it was because I had let the soil get too dry. When the soil gets too dry, it compacts and shrinks inside the pot. When the soil shrinks, it pulls away from the inner wall of the pot and it creates gaps for the water to flow through without having a chance to be absorbed. Also, when the pot gets moved cracks form in the compacted soil and it creates pathways for the water to run right through.

If this is the case, I've found that carefully cultivating the top 1/4" to 1/2" of your soil with a fork will do the trick. This helps the water to spread out more evenly across the top of the soil before it goes down. You can also take skinny bamboo skewers and very carefully poke some holes down into your soil at least 1" in from the inner wall of the pot.

Question when adding lime with a gallon water do I pH it or leave it at that?

I'm not sure on that one king; I've never used hydrated lime before. I'll check with Muddy. :smokebuds:

No, don't try to adjust the pH. The lime is going to throw it way off anyway. It's going to take a few days for it to take effect. Next watering go with pH adjusted water/feed and check the run off.

The man himself! Cheers, Muddy. :smokebuds:
