Lighting My first-ever Autocob grow! (HSO Blue Dream x2)

:smoking: dewds,....
You're in hempy, right, basically hydro,... everything happens faster in this method, and the pH is beyond critical,... you've seen the charts for this--

... much finer lines than soil! A temporary hiccup can have rapid symptom manifestation,... That said, this is weirdy,... it looks like P defc. from the large necrotic patch there, but unless there was a pH hiccup, that's seemingly impossible,... especially since you're running bloom only nutes-? No grow nutes at all,...:confused1:..... well, if no other spots appear, and this doesn't progress, it was likely some pH snafu,... In any case, you need to get a TDS /EC meter to measure your nutrient conc.'s, otherwise you're just guesstimating on things, and that will come back to trouble you at some point,... hydro is high maintenance!

Yessir, hempy w/Growstones as the medium. The first maybe gallon or two she got was ph'd to 5.7, and there was one gallon that I forgot to let it sit overnight to offgas - I guess that might have given her a little trouble. I've been keeping feeds back at 5.8 now though.

And yeah, my regimen is exactly what I've put down so far: .5 Armor Si, 7g Maxibloom, 6ml CaliMagic & .6ml Mammoth P per gallon. They're currently getting about 160z a day of that.

So it is safe to assume this was probably a PH hiccup due to the 5.7PH for a bit? And if so, I assume the remedy is just to keep my PH at 5.8 and go forth to sin no more?

And while I have y'all here - what are everyone's thoughts on chlorine? I leave my tap water to sit as a matter of course, but there have been a few times between this grow and the last one I ran where I flat out forgot to set some out to breathe and just made up my nutes with straight tap water. I've looked for info on whether it's actually harmful or not and haven't been able to find a definitive answer.

So, a bit of an update. Just popped in to check on the girls, and the spots seem to have spread. This is the third day since I first noticed the larger spot on the leaf, if that makes any difference. I'm heartened though that none of the other leaves look bad at all - in fact, the plant is kicking ass. I wonder if this was just a PH hiccup after all. Anyone more knowledgeable able to chime in and confirm/deny the likelihood of that? Here's a pic of the area as of five minutes ago:

On a better note, she's showing pistils! Couldn't get a good shot, but they are there. I'm probably gonna have to start LST tomorrow - her nodes are super close, so I want to really make sure she gets as much light penetration as possible and keep her bushed out.

Ordering a TDS/EC meter tomorrow. I remembered I actually have one already (bought it in a combo pack with a PH meter that turned out to be junk) but I'll be damned if I know where it is anymore.:wall:

Day 28!

Things are going great! Except, uh...we're down to one plant. Had a totally stupid butterfingers moment while pulling Lefty out of the tent to do some LST, and she pretty much went ass-over-teakettle and landed on the floor. Main stem broke and a bunch of the growstone ended up all over the floor, so I just called it a botch and culled her. So that sucks. :face:

On the upside, Righty is growing like a champ. She's about a week into flower and is stretching and popping pistils all over the place. The leaf spotting/necrosis that she was showing on the one lower leaf has stopped, which seems to confirm a PH hiccup being the cause. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this grow. Aside from the weirdness with Lefty (RIP) everything's gone great.

And now some pics!

Forgot to mention, lights are at 20" and she's loving it. Hey @BigSm0 - I only have one light on at the moment since I'm down to one plant. Any reason why I shouldn't turn on the other? More light the better, no?
This is what I would do. It's not like your firing up a second 600 watt hps. The 55 watts will do plenty of good for a wide plant and hardly touch your electric bill. I would space them out so there wasnt direct light above. This will get you the deepest penetration with less chance of burning. I would also raise the two up to atleast 30" to start with

Sorry about lefty. Maybe you could install some stickers on the pots that say team lift. :smoking:

Haha. I think I'll settle for "don't medicate *before* working on the plants", lol. This Critical Kush I have from my first run sneaks up on ya. :smoking:

Day 35! Not much to report, just cruising along. She's had both lights on her for a couple days now and seems to be doing just fine. She's a little droopy in the pics, but I took them right after lights on so she'll be perked up just fine before too long. Got a little lazy with the LST, but I did a slight bit of pruning and re-tying last night.

Anyway, here she is! Loving all the bud sites.

So there ya go! One more week in the books. I'm dying to see how much weight she puts on in the coming weeks. Thanks for stopping by!
