13 and 20 days old

No changes in light, feed, and temps to report but we do have nice growth. I was able to get the scissors easily between 5th nodes and I’m going to do a little branch pulling tonight. Should be fun trying to manipulate a canopy. Might be a little late in the game not sure but I wanted to leave em alone as long as possible. Everyone is smiling so I’m gonna keep on keeping on. 15 and 22 days old

Starting weeks 3 and 4 of nute schedule respectively. Rounding off the amounts on the low side and adding armor si and CalMag every other day seems to be working fine. The schedule for weeks 3 and 4 in ml per gal will be FloraMicro 4.5 and 5.5, FloraGro 5.5 and 6.5, FloraBloom 2.5 and 3.5…sched calls for amor si 2.5 daily and I’m doing 2 every other day and sched calls for CalMag 1.9 daily and I’m doing 1 every other day. No visible complaints yet, on the contrary they appear to be healthy happy and thriving. A couple leaves in the whole group have a teeny curl on the edges that I will keep an eye on but I’m pretty sure was caused by receiving about 36 straight hours of light. My bad.

Tied some nodes down level with others. I’m already having to do some leaf tucking because some nodes are pushing up against the fan leaves but I assume nature knows what it’s doing so I’m trying to alter them as little as possible at this point. I’d rather learn I should do more and earlier next time than disrupt this time.

It feels time to start planning my next lighting change for perhaps next week. Going to start with increasing distance and raising power from 60% to 80%. And i mapped my tent a bit while they were germinating so I believe they’ll be going from 490-550 to 680-750 ppfd when they’re at the next level, based on predicted temp/rh and exhaust fan efficiency.

It is SO fun to watch these kids grow and develop their own personalities and styles. For example Grappa is a node behind and shoots the newborn nodes vertical for so long they are huge when they “fall”. And while she’s a node behind, her paws are bigger than any of her sisters. One of the Owl Pellets grew a 2 fingered leaf instead of 3 so we had the “everyone’s special in their own way” talk and she hasn’t let it hold her back. Then we have a SNuggets x Swalker that is so dense I could pour a gallon of water on her canopy and .5ml would reach the soil while her “twin” sister would let the whole gal through hahaha. The leaves on these kids are just humongous, like paws on Great Dane puppies and it’s truly a joy to watch em grow in to them. Peace

I think you've got a natural green thumb my friend.. those plants are as developed and as healthy as they could possibly be for their stages of life.. Great growing sir keep up the good work

Thanks man! As beautiful as they seem to me, I have no priors to compare to so it’s very cool to hear they look just as pretty to you guys.

Happy Fathers Day to the growdads out there!

Rigged pullies to my light and moved the plants to the floor. Light is 36” above tallest plant and dimmer is now at 80% up from 60%. Ppfd is 605 on the sides and 675 in the middle and current temp/rh is 78/62. I increased light yesterday when they woke up and so far no changes to leaf structure or color. It would be great to have an already proven light/ppfd schedule/plan but instinct has worked so far so I’ll roll with it. That’s what this journal is for, to refer back to what days I made outstanding or tragic choices.

I tried tucking some of the huge fan leaves on the fat kid because the growth underneath is pushing up against them but changed course. It feels like I’m messing with the “proper” growth of new nodes because its so bushy that tucking takes away the natural even layers and leaf/nodes get pushed together. Instead I’m focusing on gently pulling down stems as even as I can and a little bit more each day. Creates space with a natural feel so I’ll go with it for now. I know she’s going to stretch eventually and I don’t want to get in the way. Its going to be topping day again soon too. Crazy.

All plants seem to be happy with raising the light and upping the power to 80%. Side note…Seems to me when these kids grow (and as a newbie I have to assume that big paws means a big dog), if they reach 32” high from soil they could have a ppfd of 800-900 on 80% power. I know temperature is an important gauge but I’m pretty sure I can light burn these girls even with a nice temp. So I’ll be reading up around here. Sooooo much info available here thanks to you fine folks who offer your experience. New grow journals and the infirmary are a must read for any rookie.

Max temp/rh of 77/63 has been easy to maintain because it matches the perfect ambient weather here on the Southern California coast but we have a slight heatwave here again for about a week at about 85ish temp and 30% humidity so I’ve got the in room AC on low and 1gal humidifier in the tent on high while still keeping 2 windows open for fresh intake air and exhaust fan set at 4 and to be always on. I put my exhaust on top of my tent to create space inside AND to exhaust it as high as possible. I also aimed it towards the window which is furthest from the AC. So far so good and current temp/rh is 77/62.

In just 24 hours some bud sites have grown enough that tucking a little behind them doesn’t squish/alter the baby growth at the center. And while I’m pulling down I’m also pulling a few branches to the side so theyre not directly under large leaves. I’m kind of picturing a net over it and trying to space accordingly but trying hard to proceed at a patient pace while not getting in natures way. Happy growing! Peace

Thank you! I‘ve been real lucky so far, although I was a clumsy oaf today. First I crunched a couple leafs when I was picking up a pot then I splashed nute water on a some leaves. D’oh! At least I’ll know what caused the spots/stains on the plants that I would guess will appear soon. Thanks again man!
