SSSSOOOOOO CRAP! After talking with a buddy about what im doing, posting my house thread here on AFN. Due to paranoia and the good ol american government, i am not going to post pics of the build do to security reasons (yes paranoid but better safe than sorry.....right guys???)

This make you come to grips that we are not as free as our founding fathers wanted.
I hope this project set you and yours free from bondage. Bondage from the bank, insurance company ect.

Keep it up!

Hank my man, you took the words out of my...brain:dunno: lol...

But this is my dream a life with "minimal" financial dependency! You seem to be in the same mindset as well, have you put any thought into off grid or eco building yourself??

I took a couple hour trip today and picked up half of the earthbags i will be needing, these will last me a few months or so of building till i need more, cost me $420.00 even(yeah i thought this was pretty cool) for 1500 bags and that is shipped. i couldn't have them delivered locally because the shipping company didn't have access to a loading dock in my area. so with gas add $20.

Not bad considering this is my "walls, insulation and drywall technically" figure this cost for a stick frame job and you will triple in cost if not way more!

the bags are misprinted random bags that are 19"x30" when laid flat

Hank by chance are you a country music legend? I must know, it sounds like some songs Ive heard..

Also this is a damn cool thread!
When I get land later in life this may be an idea before house or hunting shack!

Garden, water, food storage.

A GOOD well is a must have. Must be able to give the family water and water crops.
Way of storing food long term without electricity. Insulated underground food storage.

I think of what I would need if everything went to shit and I had to take care of my family.
Guns are also useful. It can feed a family fast and easy!

I'm really excited for you and your adventure!

Yes sir're HANK! thanks for sharing, and your enthusiasm!!!

I too have all this planned as well my self.

I have a well being installed closer to house finishing due to financial aspect of getting my well drilled.

I have my garden location cleared already as well and have began amending the soil there. I have very acidic soil so I may not be planting in it till next year when its ready but I will be gardening in raised beds this year for my veggies.
I will have rain water catches and trenchs/ berms for directing water to the garden as well.

we will have chickens, goats, pigs and a couple acre orchard.

as for guns I have a fair amount but could always use more here!!!!

im just all around trying to bring my prepper side out. ive read many books now about all the aspects of being prepared for the "END" of the world as we know it, as well as my learned knowledge being raised hunting, fishing and surviving off the land.

I would like to make this thread just all round about prepping in general, what ever we have on our minds in relation to eco building, solar panels, veggie gardening, animal husbandry ect...

I had to burn a few more stumps out this weekend, ill be leveling my pad in the next weeks time to come.

hope every one has a great week!!

peace
