Indoor My newbie idea

Ok so how does this sound for my set up and plan.

grow tent measures 120cm x 120cm x 180cm.

now here is where im unsure, i was going to place a 250w cfl light above the babies until i felt they was a decent enough size or at their flowering stage. Then i was going to put in a 400w hps light. regardless of lights i was going to keep both on a 20/4 cycle. I was hoping to just leave the flaps open for intake air and have a small fan inside keeping the air moving around. I have a 5inch out take fan with carbon filter.

With this size tent i was hoping to put inside 6 auto ak and hoping for an end yeid of around 5oz.

Hows this sound? sorry if i seem like a right idiot i have looked after a friends grow before but he only really had me checking the ph when refilling the hydro tank and keeping an eye on the nutri level...cant remember what it was measured in to be honest but used something similar to a ph stick.

I never know why people want to change lights midstream in the grow. To me turn em all on and leave em on but that is just my opinion.

I thought the hps would be to much heat for the babies?

In regards to fan size and hoped yield what do you think?

Hey ace. How many cfm is your intake fan/w filter rated? It's probably fine as the smaller ones would be fine for that tent. Passive intake from flap is good too. That fan should keep the hps cool enough but you could wait till a little later to add it. But not necessarily for flowering. I agree with Nelson. Turn em on all and roll out. Just watch your temps and don't get that hps too close.

Also, I think you would get more than 5 oz off of six plants. But don't quote me or anything. Are you using hydro or soil? If soil, what kind? And what kind of nutrients? And you definitely need something to test your ph. Hope this helped.

yeah that sounds like a lovely set up mate, i dont think its unreasonable at all to get 5 oz from 6 plants, im not entirely sure how much the ak yields on average but with those lights, and i assume youre gona go with a hydro system since you already know a bit about it from your friend you should be able to get an oz a plant quite easily so long as you dont overfeed and stunt your plants in the beginning.. do be sure to post more information if you want a more accurate reply though, if people knew how you were gona grow it and some of your nutes and other supplies itd be a bit easier to judge..

That's about a 12 sq. ft. area, big enough to grow about 10-12 autos at a time, depending on your pot size, so 6 plants would easily fit in there. A 400 watt HPS light is enough to cover about 9 sq. ft. so you could easily grow 6 plants under it. With good growing techniques I'm sure you could yield at least 6 oz. and possibly as high as 10 or 12, depending on the strain you are growing.

so should i just go with a 400watt hps inside my tent and not bother buying the cfl? As for nutes im not too clued up. I was going too use canna nutes and believe it or not just have the grow done in soil as its my first alone grow and ive heard soil is more forgiving. cant wait to get started to be honest.
