I suspect that bugs did the damage. Opinions?

:cuss: that sucks Badger,... get me a pic of the stem where it was broken,... bugs on the stem alone is unlikely,... it looks snapped and peeled a it; a bug would have made a cleaner cut! ...other vermins, like 4 legged kinds is a possibility....

I dont have closer shot and I deleted one that should have been good. You got me thinking about 4 legged vermins. What could it be?

Looks exactly what a damn rabbit has done to my plants many times

Could this be a case of damping-off, caused by fungi carried by fungus gnats?

Maybe but wouldn't then others be affected?

I agree. How do I stop him or whatever it is? Putting rotten eggs around the plant or smearing engine grease?

Whenever a branch or main stem snaps try using duck tape, it can help it grow back together.

here's some of my notes for critter problems.

Leave your own piss or some kind of predator piss in bottles or another container with the cap off or poked holes in it and place it in the ground up to the neck of the bottle/container so it will not fall over to keep the scent in area for longest time to deter critters.

I've also heard that mixing piss with 90% alcohol will keep it from going bad too fast. Not sure if really needed.

Beer in a cup or container of choice to attract slugs to climb up and fall into it and keep off plants. For some reason they like beer lol..
Also copper wire around base of plant is supposed to keep slugs away.

Deer repellant, moth balls or whatever else you think will deter critters inside a container or bottle with lid or cap off somewhere secure or slightly buried so it wont fall over to keep the scent the longest etc.

Soak some 550/paracord or rope in something like liquid fence or whatever else you think might work to deter critters and make a circle with it around your plants on the ground and cover it with leaves or bury it a little. This can be replaced by a freshly soaked rope as you see fit.

Just remember to be careful about what goes into the soil around your grow that your plants may be able to absorb.

Of course with any deterrents be mindful of the environment.
i wouldn't want to smear engine grease around the outside of my pots, although it would probably deter animals.
I wouldn't want any chance of that coming in contact with the plants.

also keep everything looking natural so it cant be spotted easily by ground or air.

I hope this helps.:goodluck:

Rabbits just chew thru younger plants and kill them, ive had many look exactly like you found yours. I've gotten wiser to the little bastards.
I use a combination of moth balls, a solo cup cut with the bottom cut out and some chicken wire. I've lost a few over the years so I go full protection for my outdoor ladies.

Thanks guys very much :)

One more question. I found most of the plants eaten around the base. Is this also rabbit issue or something else?

Is this one of the 'suspects'?
