Keep anything electric away from butane.
Never use open fire sources, handle electrical sockets or smoke anywhere in the house or outside on the premisses, as long as there is butane in the air.

Be extremely paranoid with safety! A gas explosion is no joke.

I only use boiled water ad heat source. Then ethanol recrystslisation to get rid of traces of gas.

Also, butane is heavier than air...it goes down not up.

fellas, I would certainly err on the side of caution, with any butane purged extraction with a heat gun. It may very well speed up the process, or give the desired consistency, but I would NOT use an open flame anywhere near something like that. We also need to preach the safety side of things in thread as being the most important part of this thread and the practice of open flame Like that is NOT what we would advise on AFN! Consider this a disclaimer!!

Ah. Good you mention that.
Be aware of how much gas you inhale.

The more paranoid, the safer. Playing around with inflammable gas is intrinsically dangerous.

Decarb your plant material in the oven @ 250F for 27 minutes for best conversion. I use 250F and 26 minutes to allow for variation in home oven temps.

I did a couple of small edits.

Safety first, always, AFN cares. AND safety second.

Don't ever mention an open flame near the gasses in these forums. Do what you want, but just leave mention of that out. There are always alternatives.

We want to keep our section.

I had done some iso ho back in the 90's after a friend blew his brothers house up and nearly killed our buddies.
One of the things that I don't get with butane still is the vaporization of it. As I understand, as you heat these solvents, they vaporize and that's when they're super flammable. So if the bulk of the tane evaporates outside, until it's not violently bubbling anymore and it's thickening up, will the amount of vapor coming off still dangerously fill a garage? Since people are using these various electrical ovens and vacs etc for their "final purge" does this mean that the amount of butane is low enough that it doesn't reach dangerous concentration levels? I know there are some fans and vac pumps that are marketed as "explosion proof" but those are for much larger operations I think and I've heard that they aren't even proven effective.

i agree about the dangers i would never do this indoors and id assume people do any type of purge when you have zero bubbles in yout dish ect i would not use a heat gun ever i see a lot of peeps using a pancake griddle or i heard a reptile mat as Eekman says better safe as its flamable i am just after people purge methods i was just going to go with my easiest safest one
