So yea looking for a new led for my micro grow (computer case). I cant afford anything fancy or expensive so I thought maybe you guys had tried some of the cheaper stuff and was looking to see if anyone could recommend something that has worked well for them. Thanks in advance.

honestly break down some LED screw in bulbs, Their $2 or less each, plus whatever for heatsinks, but for a PC case you would only need 4-6 of the 8w ones

as comparison the Bridgelux vero 19's are a very nice and cost efficient cob that ive used in an under driven fashion for efficiency in my pc cases, but when you factor in the cost of around $10 a cob for 4 of them, plus two meanwell ballast at $10-15 each plus heatsinks your looking in the $80-100+ range, vs the screw ins which are $8-10 for a 4 pack, plus $5 per heatsink so $30 maybe total.

Honestly i should of went that route to begin with vs the amount of money and time ive spent on various upgrades and changes ive done.

Here's a link on how to break down the 8 w Philips bulbs

Thanks so much Mr. Sparkle. Question, could one take the dome off the screw in bulbs and get some of those 2 prong screw in adapters and plug them in a surge protector and do the same thing? or do you need to break em all the way down and add a heatsink?

yep can do it as you suggested, or get some cleat sockets, only reason to break them down is for height clearances, and to go with a better heat sink if desired

As far as i am concerned Mr Sparkle is the absolute king of true micro grows!! Just wanted to put that out there! :D

lol thanks, i consider myself an average to intermediate grower, i've just been doing micro for long enough that i roughly know what works and or can be done in small environments, at least for myself anyways, mind you im never going for max yield and am always playing around with something, to see if i can tweak things
