Hey everybody, let me just start by saying that I'm from Scandinavia so excuse me for my grammar :D

I'm so happy that i found this forum, because i'm going to start growing autos soon and I need some advice for seed to seedling transformation, so to speak.

I know thats a bad idea to transplant autos, but the soil I have is EC 1,5. Will this not burn the seedlings/seeds? I have experience from the first time i started to grow, thats why i ask.

Gold Label Special Mix soil, is the name of the soil I've been using.

Its not real bad to transplant them when the are still in veg but you want to do it as early as possible.

Ok thanks for the advice.

So what i will do is what i have done with regular femseeds so far is that i will put the seeds in Jiffy Pots for like 3-4 days (regular i leave in there for a week) and then just put it down in a 3 gallon pot, with soil.

Should this work without stunning them or stressing them the hell out? :joint:

That would be a good way to do that. Look forward to seeing your grow.

Another method would be to fill your pots 2/3 of the way with your "Hot" mix, and top the rest of it with regular potting soil. bye the time the roots reach the "hot" soil. they should be about ready to start uptaking the nutrients.

This way you can avoid the transplant.

However transplanting auto's is not a disaster, you just have to wait a little longer for your harvest. (disclaimer, I have not messed with a plant after it has gone into veg (auto's)). As long as you don't do it too late I imagine.

Just my two cents,

Eek

I like that idea where much!! Think I'll go with both this idea and jiffy pot to see which works best for me, being the first time with autos and all :)

pre-flushing jiffy pots with ph stabilised water is a must....I have foundmost jiffy's will vary in ph and ec from box to box, so soaking them to rehydrate, drying some then soaking and flushing again with water ph'ed to ph 6.0 often helps them get off to a quick start.
some seeds have a naturally hard shel casing and can be scuffed with a bit of sandpaper in a matchbox oe in a plastic smarties/skittles tube and then shaken 4-6 times....
AF's are known to sometimes have a thick hard shell casing and sometimes need the time in a freezer or slight scuffing to let moisture soak in.
biodegradable seedling pots and larger pots can be used to transplant/up-pot without disturbing the root system on the plant....as the AF's have a set lifespan and limited time to grow, giving them access to deep rooting area as soon as possible will help.
I would suggest eek's method of layering the hotter soils near the bottom and ec nesutral soils near the top for the plant to grow into.

biodegradable pots might be worth considering

Never use jiffy pots, I've found them to stunt plants. Roots will not grow through the sides of them, at least not easily. If you try to remove the jiffy pot it will tear up the root system as they dig part way into the wall. Avoid them at all cost. I also recommend against using the egg shell tech, it's another hot mess that doesn't work well with cannabis.

I would like to know where you got your info that auto seeds have harder or thicker shells, never heard that before.
