hey guys.. i've ordered 3x 3950s, holders, and a meanwell 1050b driver. i have relatively basic tools (hand drill, dremel, solder gun).. I do not really have any good way of acquiring/machining raw materials or anything..

so that said, I am trying to figure out what the fuck to mount this all to. I have a galaxyhydro 300w im considering converting.. other than that, what are some options people are doing?

it seems like you can buy a large heat sink and mount them all to it? some people are using cpu fans? trying to figure out my options, thanks

I'd go to northerngrowlights.com and pick up some 50w heatsinks and just make an angled aluminum frame. You'll be around 40w per cob at that amperage so keep that in mind when buying them.

For the frame you could get fancy and use 80/20 extrusion or keep it simple with the angle.

this seems to be the most popular way to go... and might be what I end up doing.. i guess part of this thread is an attempt to avoid needing to hacksaw aluminum in my apartment with no great working space and/or figure out something where I could modify/drill into whats there vs a completely custom frame...

does anyone just mount like 3 of these onto a big bar heat sink? would something like this work? http://www.heatsinkusa.com/8-460-wide-extruded-aluminum-heatsink-with-slots/ -- or for anyone that has used CPU coolers, how are they attached to the chip? such as in this pic https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=64675&pictureid=1538253

Hi bro mine are just fixed to a 40cm heatsink with a fan on top which is cheaper easier and less heat

U could go passive with mechatronix radial sinks also, thats what my last few have been.
