New Grower Need advice on photo plants

Sup frog, only read the first few post on ur jornal, imma go back and read thewhole thing here in a min, just wanted to let you know them plants look beautiful and healthy. I remember purple haze was this s*** years ago around my neighborhood I never got to actually see a grow journal I'm excited to keep up with this best of luck, hope them pretty girls of yours can yield u 10 pounds my brother

Thanks dude. What'd you think of that Purple Haze? Both of these seeds were freebies from G13 Labs. Figured I'd take Cheese and Purple Haze as they're well known, see what all the fuss was about.

Ok so it seems like heat and light arent an issue, you are getting approx 160 or 170 watts per plant so that is right on, I currently am going 325 watts per plant but I think It might be overkill but I am also doing DWC hydro so it should be rockin. SO I would defintely utilize your vertical space as much as possible because you have it like I said before. I think you probably grow like I do with a very good control over your environment(IMO that is one of the biggest and best assets is complete enviro control) now if you are getting max lumen penetration at canpoy level you are golden to do whatever kind of training method you want. I would say any kind of pruning method for your first 3 or 4 grows would not be optimal but if you must go right ahead, learning and doing is really the best teacher. You can always try and tie the budsites out of the way and then tie the outer branches up to the main stalk, I have done this before with GREAT succsess it was amazing I had 8 or 10 top colas! It was nuts.

325 watts a plant, way cool! That's good advice about always being able to tie buds where it's needed. I keep getting nervous about getting a "perfect scrog" but forget that if it comes out sloppy I can just tie it up correctly.

Couldn't agree more on the importance of environmental control. I'm a bit ovsessive there, always checking temps and whatnot. I think one of the coolest things about growing in a small tent like mine is the airflow. It's like the whole tent is a cool-tube because there's only 35 cubic feet of air in there (much less actually because of negative pressure and objects inside). So with a 400 cfm fan at max speed, that's *easily* exchanging the air in the tent more than 12 times a minute. With the intake being right at soil level, the air comes in and has to filter through a thick canopy. It's like all the leaves are in a constant, gentle jetstream of fresh air. Then there's circulation fans too...

Tl;dr : I'm really high and I just love my tent.

Yep you and me are kindred spirits my friend. My room at the current moment only has empty buckets and Lighting and Ventelation(no plants yet I am PRAYING my seeds get here today) I spent probably 6 or 7 hours(and that was a light day) just sitting in my grow space watching the air flow hahahaha. I am literally fine tuning now to a one degree temp change from lights on to lights off.

I totally understand what you are saying when you are making the tent a cool toob( I like spellin stuff funny) I have done the EXACT same thing and thought of it exactly the same way. My biggest problem is that I had to cut a hole in my attic as my intake and it is at the top of the room, so I am having to try and get the cold air down into the room, but with 2 440CFM 6" fans for a 300 cubic feet space it's working fine. I am just suuuuuper ocd about it. NOW I am thinking of how to "close" the system and run c02. Because the air is so cold here in colorado in the winter I am thinking I can just hook up both fans to both lights and ducting to the attic hole virtually eliminating the rapid exchange of air and letting the c02 concentration build up via a bottle and reulator.

Once you get to the point of reproducing your results time after time the only way I know to go bigger or better is with C02 when done correctly it not only gives you giiiiiaaant yeilds but gives the guys like us something else to master.

I remember EVERYBODY wanted it ....ceribral dom buzz havent seen it about seven yrs with all these "newer" strains out

Yeah we be on the same level! I'm also running co2 plans in my head for the coming cold. Supposedly, polar vortex is going to be even stronger this year. I say bring it! I exhaust into my house, so now my tent is free heating (though LED and a few CFLs aren't much lol).

Do have a question though, why are you shooting for such a minimal temperature difference between night and day?

Nice, sounds like something I'd be into. Gonna be missing my Think Different when my supply runs out. Maybe purple haze will fill the head-changer role in my arsenal.

I've tried some kind of cheese before, but I don't remember the quality of the smoke/high. I just remember how it really did smell like cheesy herb.

Anybody care to explain their take on the cheese high?

Less stress, plants have to use/conserve more or less energy dependant on the temp. I just have a theory that if you keep the temps the same the plant doesnt have to worry as much about cooling itself down or heating itself up.

I am new to autos and the main thing theme that i have learned is that you severly impact yeild potential when you stress an auto. So as a result I am trying the lowest stress technique I can devise IE Same temp, no transplanting and things like that. I am also trying a new type of feeding where I don't mix up a batch of nutes all at once and feed but instead individually adjust the PH for each nute set I am feeding, because Canna plants take up different nutes at different PHs I want to try and give them say Nitrogen at 5.8 then Phosphurus at 6.0 and dropping it down to say 5.6 for the Manganese. This is a chart that virtually saved my growing careerPHCHART.jpg

Ah, I see. When I was doing autos, I did 20/4 lighting, so they didn't have much time to cool off. But yes, the theme is definitely low stress. My next auto grow, I'm going to stick to that, especially with feeding. I've been giving these photo monsters 1/2 of the main nutrients small dose, and like 1/4 of the supplement dosages. They look amazing and happy, while being larger than any of my autos. Makes me think just how little autos may need. Btw, I use the General Organics GO Box kit. It's served me well with prior grows, and now these plants are showing that while less may be best, least is beast!

I'm not familiar with hydro based nutrients, but that sounds like a fun experiment, giving them more isolated elements based on pH. Do you plan to use SOLELY those elements deemed most absorbable at certain pH targets, or just make the mix predominantly geared towards accentuating specfic elements? I would think plants at least need a *little* of everything on hand at all times... but then again, my hydro knowledge is shallow.
