Hi All, Newbie here and love the forum I was wondering about side lighting I am currently growing 3 plants with a old mars hydro 600w led I'm afraid that it won't cover enough angles for light as they grow right now there 18 days old I didn't know if I should look into some cfls 2700k with the metal bowl reflectors for side lighting or if they maybe make some small or screw in led's that will have more power. I'm trying to keep it pretty cheap I know cfls ain't bad money wise but im willing to go led if they ain't to pricey. Also whats the usual distance you would keep the lights from the sides of the plants Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I'm adding a photo of my setup. I use led lights and although it's very close, it doesn't seem to hurt the plants, probably because there isn't much heat.

Hope this helps! :)

If you have led up top and want side lighting cfl is a great choice. But to be hones I find the best way to max yield is to lst your auto. Train them for an even canopy and get the lights as close as possible without seeing bleaching. But if you go cfl the 2700k you described works very well I have used them in previous grows

By the way, I got my leds at Amazon, the round ones are under $20 and the large square ones are around $40. The round ones also need the frame to hold them.

Are those the Erligpowht 45w ones? I bought a few of those too and am planning on using them for side lighting once I get into full bloom and am past the stretch. I'm really curious to see how well they work! Keep us posted on your results too!

Thanks A train this is my first grow and was a bit hesitant to Lst and afraid I wouldn't do it right. At what age do you start to Lst Your plants and what's the right way to do it. I have 3 going right now 2 of them are 17 days and 1 is 10 days old from sprouting. Another question I have for you because you have experience with cfls is like I said I have 2 metal bowl reflectors and bought both 6500k and 2700k bulbs should I just stick to 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower or should combine a 6500 and 2700 together in each reflector. I am also using a 600w old style Mars hydro led for top light. I am going to try to post some pics of the setup any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again
