Lighting Need help with side lighting

That would really be awesome! Who knows... Whenever we start the Online Homegrowing Association, we can have The Annual Online Homegrowing Association Convention!

Yeah, I may, or may not, be somewhat stoned... LOL [emoji12]

That would be great Dan. This was actually last grow, which I royally messed up. Still averaged 2.5 oz per plant but I expected a lot more. Last night I dropped 12 more. 5 big head from head stash, 5 cream of the crop and 2 moby dick.

I'm trying to get my new lights in order and it's really affecting this round. The intensity of these lights are sick. My plants keep acting like they want more till I give it to them then they start showing signs of light stress. It's a struggle
Hey BigSm0 sorry to hear about your troubles, how many lights you running now? I know you got that new amare. Correct me if I'm wrong but that pic you posted with the scrog did you have 2 led's and what it looks like a hps in the middle? I'm hoping the 12 New ones you dropped will be good for ya. Whats your germ process and do you put them under cups or Saran wrap as seedlings? You must have some serious room to have 12 going I have 3 in a closet right now and am getting worried on how fast one of them is bushing out already. Do you usually space them out a bit as the get older I am wondering cause right now I'm trying to keep them close together cause only 1 600w led but not close enough that the big fan leaves of one ain't blocking another plant. Sorry for all the questions tonight it must be the reefer :baked:

I got this from my buddy the other night
Pretty good. Hybrid of Girl Scout cookies n blue dream

Hey, Dan, price of Mars300 went down on Amazon. It was $99 when I bought them, and they're now $89 each! ;)

I actually have 24 going right now. Last run I built an indoor room 8x12 and half way through realized it sucked for 12 plants. Before this run I tore it all out and built an addition and a new room inside. https://www.autoflower.org/threads/a-builders-edge-in-grow-room-construction-dream-room.51676/

Here is the link to the progress. I have a 4x10 little veg room now and a 10x20 grow room too. It was an expensive lesson but I finally have a great space. Yes last run I had 2 Mars 600's and a 600 metal halide. I ran that in veg then realized leds were amazing so I bought 2 kind k5's to flower with instead. After dumping a few thousand they shit out on me so this run I was in a bit of a panic to find good lights. The Amare lights I have now are absolutely amazing but I'm new to them. The power and intensity is something that can only be figured out with time.

As for starting seedlings my first run I used small 3" cups and root bound the plants. Next run I tried direct pots but also ran into a little rookie error. This round I'm doing direct pots again. A lot of people took the paper towel method from growing photos. Autos are way to sensitive imo to handle like that.

If your in a closet dan try to use a side wall to help reflect the light. I understand the trouble fitting 3 the long ways under a 20" panel. But if you set it up right you should be ok. I have even done things like angling the light towards the right side wall a little but keeping the light more towards the left 2 plants. Once it reflects the painted wall and comes back to the plant plus the little bit of top lighting it should even out.

I also rigged up a board across the top. Say 30 inches long and hung 2 clip on cfl's to make the spread a little wider. I'm currently messing with regular screw in LED bulbs for seedlings. I know a grower who uses these solely for growing throughout the whole process. Just cut the top of the light off and paint what's left white as some sort of reflector. Here is a picture of my latest project for seedlings

It's just for 2 days till my ballast arrives but I hope to use it for seedlings up until 2-3 inches when I'm finally back on track with lighting

Smo, have you ever tried Rapid Rooters or Root Riot plugs? I thought it was smoke and mirrors until I tried them; I started out using paper towel method, then went to pure submerge in water, and now to the plugs. Paper towel method definitely works but I agree, it can open itself up a bit to problems (wait until you have tap root grow through the towel, that's always a treat to remove (if you don't destroy the root.)) I did full water soaking for awhile, that also gave me great results (and you'd be surprised how long a seedling can survive submerged in nothing but pure, non-bubbled water,) but again felt like it wasn't giving them what they needed. Saw a few guys on here using the rooter plugs, gave them a shot, and have had RIDICULOUS germination rates and the roots they produce are really nice from the start.

There's a great guide on here from a member by the name of Ronin, you can read up on it here if you want. Might be worth a shot!

As to the light placement, don't be afraid to LST (Low Stress Train) those babies if space is limited, you can literally LST the entire grow if you choose (best to start early though.) Opens up the bud sites, the flood of auxins helps push the side growth out, and you're evening out the canopy.

Hope that helps a bit buds!

I did rapid rooters my first run. They worked but I almost feel they are so dense the little tap root has to struggle a bit to push through it. Then they seemed to raise up during the grow which isn't bad but I do wish they would break down eventually. I do think the rapid rooters directly in soil is the best option though.
