Lighting Need help with side lighting

I actually have 24 going right now. Last run I built an indoor room 8x12 and half way through realized it sucked for 12 plants. Before this run I tore it all out and built an addition and a new room inside. https://www.autoflower.org/threads/a-builders-edge-in-grow-room-construction-dream-room.51676/

Here is the link to the progress. I have a 4x10 little veg room now and a 10x20 grow room too. It was an expensive lesson but I finally have a great space. Yes last run I had 2 Mars 600's and a 600 metal halide. I ran that in veg then realized leds were amazing so I bought 2 kind k5's to flower with instead. After dumping a few thousand they shit out on me so this run I was in a bit of a panic to find good lights. The Amare lights I have now are absolutely amazing but I'm new to them. The power and intensity is something that can only be figured out with time.

As for starting seedlings my first run I used small 3" cups and root bound the plants. Next run I tried direct pots but also ran into a little rookie error. This round I'm doing direct pots again. A lot of people took the paper towel method from growing photos. Autos are way to sensitive imo to handle like that.
Thx Smo, What an awesome room you have built there I could only wish that I had the knowledge and space to do something like that. Like you said with your new lights it's only a matter of time before you find out how the girls like them but in the end your whole setup will be very beneficial to you. For my current first grow germ I did the paper towel method but did have a mistake with one of them so maybe for my next germ I'll try the rapid rooter directly into the soil or placing in their direct pots.

That's what I use, too!

If your in a closet dan try to use a side wall to help reflect the light. I understand the trouble fitting 3 the long ways under a 20" panel. But if you set it up right you should be ok. I have even done things like angling the light towards the right side wall a little but keeping the light more towards the left 2 plants. Once it reflects the painted wall and comes back to the plant plus the little bit of top lighting it should even out.

I also rigged up a board across the top. Say 30 inches long and hung 2 clip on cfl's to make the spread a little wider. I'm currently messing with regular screw in LED bulbs for seedlings. I know a grower who uses these solely for growing throughout the whole process. Just cut the top of the light off and paint what's left white as some sort of reflector. It's just for 2 days till my ballast arrives but I hope to use it for seedlings up until 2-3 inches when I'm finally back on track with lighting
Thx, Great advice Smo. I am growing in a closet with painted flat white walls so maybe like you said I can try to tilt the light a bit towards the right wall and bounce some light of there. I'll try to take a pic of the closet later and get the dimensions for ya and if you don't mind you can tell me what you think. I know you are the grow room master I've seen your thread now lol. Reason being I'm thinking my closet it's kind of a weird setup for a closet it has a slanted ceiling so as you go in it gets shorter in height so maybe you or someone will see something that I wouldn't think to do with the reflecting of the lights

Thx witchy! I have read about these and they seem great. I was on a budget at the beginning that's why I went with the white paint I read it's pretty good at reflecting light as well, my first priority is another light right now

Yes, I agree! I painted the nook silver, but I think this stuff will reflect the lights better. The paint didn't turn out as reflective as I expected.

Here's my closet space I was talking about with the slanted ceiling. Dimensions are when you first enter the closet height is 5ft 3in as you walk in the ceiling slants down the lowest point in the back for height is 3ft. The width across is 4ft 9in. As for lights I have the 1 600w mars hydro led old style and I am prob leaning on getting the 300w old style Mars in the next day or two to hang along the top as well. I also have a few cfls around (maybe for side lighting) but I also need to get another shower bar for the other side if I'm going with cfls also. So should I angle my lights and if so Any suggestions on how to angle the lights or should I just get the two leds hang them on top with some cfls for side lighting. Thx guys

I see what you mean. The nook does the same, but on the side instead on the rear. Not sure you can see it here, the far right side is the lowest ceiling point.

You could velcro lights onto the incline so they're angled onto the plants, maybe...
