Hey what’s up grofam!!!! I’m a new grower. Currently running my forth and fifth plants.

I currently chopped my third plant, highest yielding so far. Mephistos Ghost Stomper. The problem is is that while curing it has the hay smell to it. I’ve monitored the humidity through out curing. I started real low at 38% added a couple fans leaves and got it to 60ish. I’ve tryed to smoke it and it has a horrible taste. What do I do? Is this flower garbage? If not what can I do with it.

Be patient and allow it to cure, sounds like you are trying it too soon. We have had strains in cure for up to 2 months..... Mephisto strains can have that hay smell as they cure and lose Chlorophyll during the cure process. You can have a great grow but if you F'up the cure then you have wasted time...… The job doesn't end after the grow, in some circles, it has only begun.

Alot of people sing Mephisto praises but imo from what I grew they are over rated but still decent. I had some meh smelling flowers but the sodk was good tooth decay ok too.

You want to make sure to *properly* dry your buds before curing to help prevent hay smell you also want *good fresh air circulation* when drying (not too much) and imo hang on main stalk to prolong dry to 10/14 days then put into jars *popping jars often* at first. If the strain has a smell and just a overtone of hay the hay will usually disappear 2-3weeks after jarring

If you want a really nice smelling strain that maintains dank smell from chop to smoke I can recommend FastBuds Girl Scout cookies you can literally smoke her without a good cure and be pleased

Drying and curing is hopefully a long process. If you dry the plant to quickly, it will lock in the chlorophyll... which is what you are smelling and tasting.

70* and 60% 6 to 7 days till dry enough to jar, burp twice daily till stable @ 60 to 62%.
2 to 3 weeks for hay smell and harsh taste to dissipate.

If you dried between 30 and 40% chances are you've locked that in at this point.

All the hard work in a grow can be totally tossed if not dried and cured properly.

I've never had a Mephisto that I didn't like. They grow fast potent and delicious. I slow dry mine and by the seventh day, its jarred. Open twice a day for an hour and keep dark. By end of the week in jar you should have a nice dank Mephisto bud. View attachment 1014684

7days isn’t exactly slow dry but I feel you bro, maybe I have high expectations but I didn’t like the AVT also I didn’t like the Skywalker for reasons of both growth and smell. The rest of the strain where mid level none really stood out expect the sodk which one of the two I popper was a really short pheno which I didn’t like (2nd was a beauty fyi) and the Walter white was nice I think I just drew a bad pheno nice dense and tropical flowers smelling buds though.

Not trying to be a weed snob I just believe in giving a honest and balanced review there are autoflowers out there from other breeders that out preform *some* of Mephisto genetics in every aspect one of them being FastBuds GSK

Mephisto employed the strategy of giving away "liberal" freebies. And built from there. Smart play. That type situation will always cause false positives when it comes to actual quality levels and especially opinions. I have quite a few of their seeds, however, they do not reside as one of my top 5 breeders. Mephisto has a lot of fans and that's great and I like them, but some of the touting is most definitely skewed from a psychological standpoint. Typical human behavior really.

If you grow in a tent enough plants in there drying should raise humidity, also you can put a really wet towel in there on the floor to raise humidity if you don’t own a humidifier.. and as for lemon haze I haven’t tried it the only strain I can recommend from FB is the girls out cookies although *I heard* the gorilla glue is good also, lemon is very common round my way so I tend to avoid lemon strains.

Ps I normally dry my buds at 45-55RH I feel 70 is to wet also hang the plant whole if you have problem with RH it will hopefully give you some extra time
