I'm looking for recommendations on a premixed soil. The time is now and I don't have months to cook my own soil.

I'm not ready for the plunge, I just want to get my feet wet.

Any recommendations for what I will need to pull off a successful grow for this transition, would be super. I will be germinating a Dinafem, critical 2.0 tonight and start with one plant.

well there are a few companies that have essentially a water only system. TLOsoils used to have already cooked ,pre bagged soil.photo strength i believe. cut it by 45-55% depending on whatcha got planned amd tier or plug. and KIS soil has a great product as well. prolly betgter than tlosoils honestly. shipping is a hassle and pricey but its photo strength so again, cut it by atleast 45% with coco AND soil.add any small bit of perlite of needed. tier and/or plug and it'll get you hooked for life LOL! worth the shipping. tlosoils used to be cheap shipping or free. i cant recall the others, but I thought there was another 1 or 2 that had a legit water and cal mag system. well,GBD has a simple intro to basic organics additive as well. not necessarily a living mix,yet an effective one.cal mag and decent water and BOOM. cheap too. so those are three, but cant recall others.hope that helps man.

That helps tons EoF. I didn't want to bother you, I'm glad you answered.
I will look into those. Water only would be great. Is there anything you can think of, I would need to get started, other than the soil. I have some promix and perlite I can mix for seedlings and I do plan on using your teir method.

Hey man not sure where you are at but I ordered some soil to my local gs, Malibu Baby Bu's Biodynamic soil. They have a compost as well, and a pre-packaged tea as well.

I had planned on using the Bu's soil but instead I just made up my own soil mix from a couple yards of compost I sourced locally for cheap and mixed it with peat and aeration of choice (I used pumice sourced locally, bio char and black lava) along with a whole bunch of amendments like kelp meal, neem cake, fish bone meal, crab meal, oyster shell flour etc. I went light on the amendments (1/4 - 1/2 strength per bag) and inoculated with an AACT.

If you want to get away with a bagged mix only I would use Baby Bu's. I just opened some up monday after potting in my own soil. I liked it so much I decided to put two seeds in some plain Bu's soil, unamended. Never grew in it, I can only tell you that I have used pro mix, black gold, FFOF, and a few others in the past and the Bu's I would say is much nicer. If I had time I would mix a bag of the Bu's compost into a few bags of their soil and let it cook a bit. But as is it is really nice stuff. A little top dress and some good teas is all I plan on using with the Bu's soil.

Ive just bought a bag of this, the soil contents looks amazing. Ive never used it before, so I can't vouch for it personally, but a mate has used it, and said it was fire. No nute's needed till week 6ish, they have a nutes line too

the Bison soil is interesting certainly. but the Baby Bu's is good quality from all I have read. the question was a water only to harvest systewm with water and mayev a few doses of cal mag. Baby bu's is not a water only system. its an excellent base i believe. if they have a soil like that I surely didnt see it. the bisons is interesting however. wished I had the cash to try it. looks neat. baby Bu's would be a fine base however with minimal cooking required but cooking nonetheless. so imho KIS or the already made tlosoils is prolly the best unless you wanna add additions to the base and make your own.

Thanks for the help peeps. I was ready to pull the trigger on the Kis, then I saw the shipping cost... $54!!! Needless to say, that's a no go.
After a day of reading til my eyeballs hurt I eventually came up with a plan. I will soon have ingredients to throw something together, I couldn't commit to any premix bagged soil.
I'm thinking I may do Dinafems Critical 2.0. and running a side by side, organic soil vs Promix, AN. It will be interesting to see the differences in yield and final smoke. Would it be appropriate to do it in the organic or Dinafem section?
If anyone would be interested, I can tag you when it's up and running.
Thank you everyone!

@Yeatster tag me up when you get going. I am running my own soil mix versus 2 plants in the Bu's. I only cooked my soil 10 days but seedlings are looking happy so far.

I think I could have planted straight into the mix I am using but I inoculated with a tea and wanted to let marinate for a little bit. I kept stuff like alfalfa and guanos to a minimum, used good compost and didn't add any manure. My idea was to add a wider variety of stuff in small amounts to an already good compost, keeping it "less hot". A nice buffet for the plants. Oh yeah, and a worm farm. A source of fresh EWC for teas and top dress should make up for the lack of manure in the soil, at least I hope!

Of course I ended up purchasing a lot to give me the variety. Sourcing stuff locally and making teas and organic fertilizers helps save a few bucks. Over the long haul should save a lot of $ not buying bottled nutes.

I wanted to convince myself that I should use one of the recipes already put together on the forums here or elsewhere. But I'm an ass and always have to do things different LOL
