I have a grow journal, but no input yet for this question. I think my plants are in preflower or flower...I don't know the difference! I am needing to know when to switch from veg to bloom nutrients and change my lighting from 6400K to 2700K. My set up is (2) 125cfl's (I have 2 of each 2700 and 6400K) Right now I have 2 6400K in there and it is a full mylar'ed cabinet. Here are a few pics. My blue mystics are 4 weeks old, the short rider is 3 weeks old. I appreciate any advice you may have!

Here is a link to the entire journal

I am attaching the current pics for advice! Pics 1 and 2 are blue mystics, 3 an4 are short rider and 5 is my cabinet setup. Thanks for reading this.

Cheers!

Try replacing just one of the bulbs so you get a mixed spectrum, the plants will dig it. Also a good average time to switch to bloom nutes is at the end of week 5 :Sharing One:Cheers

Thanks a lot for the information. I've got another question..I'm in a bit of a spot with timing on this grow...I'm going to need to harvest either by July 19 (week 10) or on/after Aug 9. (Week 13) so is there anything I can do to either push them or stall them a bit? Based on my calculations, day 70 will be July 10 and day 86 will be Aug 9. So which is better, early or late harvest? Cheers.

I'm on my 4th auto. I switch to bloom nutes at 6 weeks + 1 day (43 days). My first grow was 34 days, but I ended up feeling I did it too soon (according to Muddy's lifecycle sticky). I switch to cleanse at 11 + 3 (80 days) and chop at 14+2 (100 days).

I've only grown one strain. It's probably strain dependent. I took to heart that newbies tend to switch too soon. As far as whether early or late is better, I've seen the buds pack on significant weight by letting it go longer. And, the trics don't cloud and amber until then anyway.

I think you won't know what's best until you get there. You'll need to see the trics. For now, I'd encourage you to wait to switch to bloom nutes.

Have they stretched yet? If not, then it's definitely too soon. My timeline is 4-7 days after stretch stops.

If you take em in August, the thc could degrade a bit takin em that late. Sounds like you would be better to change bulbs next week and hit em with some flower nutes, like robwars said. If you take em in July, you will suffer on the yield end of things. Happy growing.

I really haven't had much stretch yet at all. They are still compact as hell. About 8-10 inches. So I'll wait on the bloom nutes. Also I am using cfl's so maybe mid late august will be right for me after all since Chester says cfl's tend to grow slower. I did go to a mixed spectrum light tonight 1 6400 and 1 2700 so hoping they like that. I've seen lots of people say to use both, so I'm giving it a try. Sometime I wonder how they can possibly survive all this tweaking!!! Cheers buddy!

It comes down to personal preference. If you want more of a head high, take them early. For more of a body stone, take them later. Personally I prefer mine well done, so tend to leave most of mine go 12-13 weeks.

Thanks Muddy. Maybe I'll take one early and one late...and check out the difference! Before I got here I had no idea about the variety of plants our how different harvest and curing had impact...I am a blown away with information newbie! Once this grow finishes and I have some smoking ing material...there is so much I want to try.
