New Grower Need some information about when to switch lighting/nutrients

Thanks man, I changed one to 6400k tonight!

I really haven't had much stretch yet at all. They are still compact as hell. About 8-10 inches. So I'll wait on the bloom nutes. Also I am using cfl's so maybe mid late august will be right for me after all since Chester says cfl's tend to grow slower. I did go to a mixed spectrum light tonight 1 6400 and 1 2700 so hoping they like that. I've seen lots of people say to use both, so I'm giving it a try. Sometime I wonder how they can possibly survive all this tweaking!!! Cheers buddy!

:tiphat:
dude, they are only 8-10 inchs tall. I would stay with the blue lights and grow nutes until shes done stretching.probably round 16 inchs at least.but definitely not time for bloom nutes

No matter when you cut it, after a proper cure, it will be the best weed you ever smoked ...
:Sharing One:

ETA ... actually that's not true ... if you cut it too soon or mess up the cure it could turn out mediocre ... :dance2:

Can you turn the bulbs horizontal instead of vertical like they are now? I think you would get much more light to them if you turned them sideways and put a reflector above them. Good luck man, they will like the dual spectrum!

When all vertical growth has stopped its used up all its nitgren, its time to switch nutes to flower and lights to 2700k but mix spec is best just more 2700k if flowering and more 6400k if vegging hope it helps

Thanks man. Turned the lights horizontal ...been meaning to work that out. I had a reflector but temps were getting too high. The cabinet is fully covered with mylar so I'm making due with that.

If you place a fan blowing through the bulb it will remove heat that builds up in and around the many tubes that make up the light. By removing the heat you will drop your temps in general, and a little tip for you to keep your bulb 3-4 inches away from your plant/buds at all times trust me it will work WONDERS for you !! check my old setup and your see my fan blowing on the bulb at all times. https://www.autoflower.org/f104/polar-express-stealth-grow-first-timer-27405.html

Thanks man. I'll see.what I can work out for getting the lights closer and also getting a fan at the lights. I'm already thinking of so much I want to do differently when I get a few more $$!.

Here is what I've done based on information from this thread:
1.Keep things in veg state. ==done
2.Hang lights horizontal. ==done
3.Move lights closer to plants. ==done
4.Get a mixed spectrum of lights. ==tried it for 1 day, but then half the cab was red, half blue, light did not seem well dispersed, so I changed back to the 2 6400K for now. Going to push the veg awhile.
5. New growers seem to switch to flower nutes and lighting too soon. == waiting patiently and I think they are starting the stretch!

Thanks all for such great help.
