Lighting new GN Units

Interesting analogy... I assume you're talking about a 1 seater bmw motorcycle vs a 5 seater ford truck? I'm all for people buying quality if they can afford it... and efficiency is important too... but you just can't get away from the fact that more watts = more buds. Sure use those watts efficiently and its going to produce better... but... if you talk about whats the max amount of bud I can harvest under my 330£ led... how much bud do you think you will get under a GN unit vs £330 worth of chinese LED? Not too sure on the exchange rates... but I think I could get a 600w actual draw chinese unit for under £330 and with a pro grow pull 600grams from a grow with it... whats the most you could hope for under a new GN unit....? Feels like throwing money away to me...but hey, its your money.

The price is steep but people buy BMWs every day when a Kia or Ford will get them from point A to point B for a lot less money. With their pricing model GN is definitely not for everyone, but it seems they are not trying to be. Top of line for those who want the ultimate quality and are willing to pay for it.

Your right bro budget items in general are a great choice for some but others will like to buy higher quality. I'm a bit of a snob in I like to treat myself to nice clothes and organic food (not cheap in the uk) so this treat for my hobby is just the ticket lol. We are however still lacking any kind of spec on these units they could have ground breaking features and tech....it's mostly just speculation at the moment we know very little.

I don't own a GN and I don't know if I ever will, but I see no need for hating on it. I think to do a proper cost/benefit analysis you'd have to compare the GN to a cheap Chinese unit over the long haul of many grows. Energy savings, replacements when panels burn out, yield, etc. Where has anyone been making the argument that a GN unit is more cost effective over a single grow? It's not unlike someone buying a Volcano vape instead of a no-name off eBay. Sure, they'll both get you baked & the cheapo may seem like a better move on day one, but after 5 years of daily use the Volcano will still be going while the cheap one will likely be in the trash long ago.

Ok let's say I can grow 250g under 75w and your friend is growing 250g under 250w wouldn't my saying in energy get my money back?

If it is possible to achieve in soil for 90 days autoflower, I'll buy 20 panels and will hire you to give me advice on how to growing step by step

That would be 3.33 grams per watt!

If you can grow 250g under 75watts that would be really impressive. But you're talking over 3 grams per watt here... I just cant see it being possible. Fuck man, if you can grow 250g under 75watts I'd seriously consider buying them. I'm sure they are impressive units, high quality parts, top bin chips, but they dont operate outside the laws of physics/photosynthesis/more light=morebuds.

We're all intelligent individuals... At this pricepoint there's a huge markup/profit. My chinese LED's are built like a tank punch out a bunch of light and get the job done. I'm not hating on GN, i just dislike seeing companies take people to town for a perception of quality. Hell maybe these lights are some next generation sci fi technology that will cure cancer n shit... But I'm more inclined to believe they just source their parts from the same factories every other LED manufacturer does, carefully put them together, slap a sticker on them and sell them to you with a big smile.

Premium price is not all its cracked up to be...I've heard stories about certain top priced LED's overheating if they dont have a fan pointed directly at them...

Ive been using the 240w of the Philips Rebels and I had a really good 6 week cycle where I could focus the lights on the flowering plants but also veg up 2 plant to flower in the second hand light as it were,it's a lot to look through but here are my threads with the grows oh and I was averaging 300-400g every 6 weeks.

Your making yourself look a fool bro how can you flame out on a company saying there ripping people off when you have no facts about the product you claim there over charging for ???

i bought an average quality led 12 ish months ago (£140).all 3 fans have stopped working, allmost half of the 60 leds no longer work.as warentee has experied that's basically money down the drain.I have now bought cheap chineese (£70) to keep my plant alive till new gn is available.
im sure I could have made better choices, but 12 months ago I didn't know id still be growing a year later.so budget played a bigger part than I would have liked it to.
is the new gn unit going to be a super-duper new era in low power led grow lights ? I don't know, but early speculation is they are something special.at least for the home grower that has electricity and choppers to worry about.
I guess theres only one way to find out.......as harry hill would say FIGHT !

Might just be worth shutting down this thread until GN release the official specs and info, I know I'm not getting into any debates about the lights until then - seems kinda irrelevant until we know for sure what we're working with! Not trying to rustle any feathers here guys, just hate to see disputes (major or minor) over a light that isn't yet released.
If you have no interest or intention to purchase one of the new units then you don't really need to be in this thread, you can just sit back and laugh at all of us who will pay whatever price GN decides for our "perceived quality" and we will laugh back, which means everyone's laughing and happy and winning. Pal out. :peace: :peace: :peace:
