I have too keep that in mind, dont have a spare 160 right now but down the road looks like a better bet. I just ordered the hm digital ph meter to carry me through for now. Thanks for the advice. I tried using a coco based medium on my last grow ( organic mechanic ) and things went horrible wrong so im sticking with soil untill i get somewhat of a clue how to grow

Well if it's any consolation, I went from the solution that came with the up n' down, to the cheapie meter, to the one I just bought I think it's that important. Never could read the solution color chart worth a damn, I distrust the cheap one, we'll see how it works out.
update for the week
hay folks here is the latestest picks of my ongoing "problem child" ( or interpret as someone trying to learn how to grow ). These pics are from today. gave it a hefty flush with distiled water friday. My ph pen showed up yesterday. I tested my tapwater at 8.5 ( the solution I used previous showed tap water at 8 ). I then tested my normal watering. normally when I water I fill a 1 liter bottle with water and adjust ph which I was trying to get to 6.5 with the solution. I did my typical mix with the pen and it read 6. I was under the impression that watering with water at a ph of 6 was acceptable, please correct me if thats not the case. If it is alright then is my soil the cause of the problems im having. If it isnt ok should i be striving for 6.5 on the dot every time?

A good thing to do is to remove any obviously dying leaves, cut them off right where the dying leaf's stem is at the main stalk. Also remove dead leaves if they fall on the soil ot anywhere else in your grow. Yellowing, dying leaves are beacons to bugs of a great place to start attacking the plant. Captain Obvious here, what's the PH of the soil? Hang tough bro, they ain't dead yet. Considering the first photo (last try you said), the middle photo plant is an improvement.
will do, will do. my thinking was to l leave some of those half dead leafs there to see if they cont to die to see if what ever was the issue was continuing. I dont know the soil ph but the last runn off I checked was at 6. I recently read someinfo that this value may not mean anything. I can say that I grew in RO green lytes before with success ( the soil I am growing in with this plant is 50/50 green llytes and natural gaurd which is supposedto be a neutral ph ) That first photo is of the previous plant I tried that was doomed from the start, as you can see it never even looked like a "plant", after a month and a half I finally gave up. I guees my next move is to look around for a good soil meter.

just throwing upsome of the latest pics. The plant is starting look fairly health ( I did remove all the funky looking leaves ). It kinda of skinny but starting to look good. Have been phing everything to 6.5 with my new meter for about the last week. I kinda of lost track of the exact age of the plant but its somewhere around 44 days old.

Looking good Crossman. You're going to get some smoke for sure. You'll need some patience though. I'd say your about a third of the way till harvest. Keep giving the TLC. Dr. Feelgoods are slow growers. You have some good main flowers starting there. You're going to be amazed how they slowly put on the beef.
