Hello. I've been stalking the thread for a while writing down everything I can before starting. Everyone on here seems to be great and good atmosphere! I'm wondering..... this will be my 1st ever grow, I have some mephisto seeds like creme De la chem and sky walker and double grape to use. I'm split between nutes to use. What would be the best bet to start with? I've looked into biotabs.nl or biobizz nutes but I don't know what would be best to start with. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thankyou.
My set up will be...
80x80x160 tent
400w hps
I'm stuck between 4" or 5" fan and filter (rvk or a fan)
15l smart pots
Bio bizz light mix.
Some smaller clip fans.

I think you'll be good for a couple weeks on the lightmix
Everybody's nute choice is different
I'm not too experienced but I started with vegamatrix

I think it's alot on availability
And personal choice

good question. I grow in hydro so I'm not the best to answer for sure. I like Green Planet, but never used dirt mixes indoors. I am sure you will get 100 opinions pretty quick.

hey @ReptillianSorcerer93 and welcome to AFN my man, here have a pull on this...

I did my first grow with bio bizz and produced some fine weed with it... depend which route you want to go down really... bio tabs just sit back and water, perfect if you have busy life... Bio bizz, form your own feeding schedules which would involve a little bit more work at watering times. Thats the one i would go for if you are planning in the future to step it up to a hydro set up. It will give you training in bottle nute feeding. I use the Remo range now which I can also highly recommend as a beginner.

For the fan i would go with the rvk 150-L and a controller (not a cheap £10 one, most likely damage the fan, aim for one that's around the £50 + mark)... go for the larger fan as you will no doubt up grade in the future to bigger ten / a secound tent and get the "L" model as well. The more power the quieter the air movement when dialed down, when you dial that fan speed down with the larger ducting you get a quieter air movement noise. Also it will give a huge amount of control over the air exchange. Your using HPS so heat extraction will be a big factor in your tent.

Any more question fire away my man... you could get a journal going of your first grow then we can all help out if needed.

yes yes yes.

environment control is the most important factor after pH. If your space permits a 6" in line fan with a carbon filter will pressurize any tent, or area up to maybe 10 feet. A steady supply of fresh air and an exhaust that can plugged into that HPS light would make your life easier.

the importance of pH cannot be understated. I recommend spending money on a good meter, and take good care of it. Waira always recommends the cone shaped analog meter that you just stick in the soil over leach testing. Any nutes you go with will require adjusting, even if they advertise pH balanced.

I use a bluelabs pH / EC combined meter.

Thanks man! I just want to get right! So many different opinions, I understand theres no right answer I'm just trying to follow the experienced and get the best yield I can really for a 1st grow, i was hoping 5" would do, I'll look into the 6", rvk or a normal inline fan? Would help ALOT if it was abit on the stealth side! And there so much to take in! I was saying towards the bio tabs purely because apparently it eliminates the need to ph test and like you said just pretty my water it, just while I find my feet and battle the environment until it' perfect.

Any opinion would do really, I think I'm just hoping for someone to have a similar set up and just point me in the right direction of what works best really. Ivested to much money to be yielding half oz or less, I think I'm trying to run before I walk but picture of plants on here are just... wow! That's what I want!

that sound like good plan my man, environment is everything...
Tips on stealth
hang your clip on fans on bungees to stop vibration
make a silence box for your extraction fan... unless you by an expensive fan controller the cheaper ones may make it hum loudly
Acoustic ducting is big help as well.
Where is you tent located ?
