Hps will works better for you, thats my opinion... Yes it needs ballast, up to how is you air circulation, if u think its fine choose hps. I bought 250W set with ballast for about 150$, but i put in cool tube for a better temperature.

Yeh that's what I'm going to do , think il go for a 250w hps after the advice from yourself and a look through some of the other posts .

Would you recommend I get 2 lamps , a blue light for veg then switch to red for flower? ( I think that's the right way around ) or is a dual spectrum good enough for all the way through ?

another bit of advice he needs to know is not to touch those bulbs with his hands and to use a glove so he does not get his oils on the bulb it ruins them.. or at least I was told that so I always believed it...

Yes it's true you should never touch the bulb with your skin , I'm going to get a hps from a local grow shop when I get paid

Just be aware even a small hps will get pretty hot if not vented right. I have a 150w that has an internal ballast, and a 600w air cooled. They push about the same Watts per inch -/+ 1-2%. The 150w's tent is actually a bit more difficult to manage. It's not that bad or hard to manage, just want to make sure you know, it's going to be way hotter than any led.

I would recommend taking the above advice and making a cool tube for it. I can tell you from experience a Cool Tube will drastically help cut down on your temperatures. I'm able to put my hand on the plate glass of my 600 watt hood that only sits about 3-4 inches away from the light without burning myself.

Good choice in seeds bud. I'll have a lsd-25 in my upcoming grow. You won't be disappointed! Always try to enjoy your grow, and if things get tough, you have a great community to fall back on here. Take care, and have fun! :smoking:

Do u know how much 250w hps cost approx ? Is this the type you need a ballast for ? Luckily my closet already has a vent built into the wall so it should be fine for heat and air circulation Thanks again for all the info and help.

I will do mate going to get a 400 dual spectrum and keep it as simple as I can .
