Mephisto Genetics New Artisanal Strain: 4 Assed Monkey

4am strain image web.jpg

Generation: F4

Type: Auto - Feminised

Genetic Heritage: Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] x Grape Crinkle

Project introduction and Overview:
'4 Assed Monkey' - those familiar with Mephisto know we don't just use a name to sell seeds, or to jump on the hype train, or to piggy back off of someone else's hard work. It's not our style.

Infact, to create a new auto strain that really bares a significant resemblence to the photoperiod strain you start with takes a lot of dedication, even more so than the usual high levels of work and time that we put in. In our opinion and experience it can take 3 outcrosses to your desired photoperiod to really lock traits down and to feel comfortable to put that little word, 'auto' before or after a famous strain name. To do that work could easily take 5-6 years. This single cross of Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] to our grape crinkle, working it over 4 generations to become fully auto and testing time, has taken over 2 years alone.

Initally we made a cross of GG#4 x ripleys og and also the GG#4 to Grape Crinkle for evaluation, but after the F1 grow out, we settled on the GG#4 and Grape Crinkle cross being the one to develop. Happy to say we're stoked with the outcome, and by calling it 4 assed monkey, that pays homage to it being related to Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG], and also to our company namesake where Dr. Mephisto made his 5 assed monkeys up in his lab. We're on our crazy farm developing 4 assed monkeys, So to us 4 Assed Monkey seems quite poetic.
This girl is a quick one, sparkly with frost, high in terps and has become something unique which we're super proud of.

Strain behaviour and structure:
4 Assed monkey is a speedy auto indeed, putting on flowers and putting out her sparkly oils from early in life. We would classify her as being on the smaller side of medium. When given room to spread out and a good environment she will yield well, but is aptly suited to smaller spaces or to be grown in higher plant densities. We would recommend some leaf tucking and gentle manipulation to aid her on her journey, but with limited veg time for the most part she isn't best suited to heavy manipulation and harsh training techniques. Aromas range from earthy with hints of sour initially that develop into a fruity tropical blend that is ultra tasty and salivating. Flowers have tight formation encrusted in resin. Bag appeal is top notch on this lady.

Strain figures and info in brief:

Mephisto Genetics New Artisanal Automatic Strain: Cosmic Queen

cosmic queen strain image web.jpg

Generation: F4

Type: Auto, Feminized

Genetic Heritage: Spacedawg x Chemdogging

Project Introduction and Overview:
The genesis for Cosmic Queen came in 2012, after my first experience with TGA Subcool’s “Space Dawg” thanks to a kind friend we’ll call Phil. He was more of a friend to my older brother, but we were all working for the same company, just in different states, and we all shared a passion for potent cannabis. Anytime we crossed paths joints were passed and stories were shared. On one such occasion he started telling me about Space Dawg, a cut he had received from the original TGA release some years prior, and mentioned a few terms that piqued my interest; ceilingless high and green out. He packed a bowl and we were off to the races! She hit right behind the eyes, causing my visual focus to sharpen, then waves of energy and euphoria, a sense of mental acuity that made you want to socialize but was encumbered by the lazy tongue effect, then ending with a severe case of the giggles and munchies. It’s not often that I tap out of a smoke session, but she had me down for the count. I knew after those first tokes that I wanted to breed her into my preferred flowering format.. Autoflower.

For the next 3 years every time I saw Phil I would drop subtle (and not so subltle) hints that I would love to breed with her, but he was just not down with autos at the time, and rightfully so. He had never experienced the Mephisto difference! I took it upon myself to find that same pheno, purchasing four packs of Space Dawg and doing quick runs looking for her. I found some killer phenos in those beans, but not “the” pheno. In the meantime the cut was gifted to my brother, another photoperiod purist, and in turn the flower often made it’s way to me. There were days when he was out of town for an extended period so I would be tasked with caring for her. This gave me the opportunity to get intimately acquainted with her, leading to even greater adoration of the Phil cut. Her branchy and bush like structure, early trichome production, and sweet terps all drew me in, but most importantly was the high. If I was a man of lower moral character I could have easily taken a cut without permission, but that isn’t the way we operate. I had full faith that in due time Phil would come around to the idea of allowing me a shot to breed with her.

Fast forward to 2015 when I had to opportunity to present Phil with some of our Ripley’s OG, Toof Decay, Walter White, Fantasmo Express, Triangle, and Sour Orange Diesel Kush. I’m not sure if it was one particular strain that put him over the top, or if it was the total package, but when he finished smoking them his mind was changed on autoflowers forever. After a few discussions about the Mephisto breeding program and the effort we put forth to ensure quality and proper representation of the parental photoperiod genetics, he decided to bless me with a cut. Since I had previously taken care of her I had already known what she was all about, and it was go time! She vegged for a month and then hit the flip, getting pollinated by our Chemdogging and our Sour Bubbly on my first and only personal run with her. I knew she was good, but wanted to make sure the boys on the team were all on the same page, so I sent both the Space Dawg x Sour Bubbly and Space Dawg x Chemdogging F1 beans across the pond to the one and only Mitch Connor for his stamp of approval. Here are a few words about those F1’s from the legend himself:

'It's always hard to tell the mysteries of what lies in side an innocent looking baggy of beans but I always trust GBD's work and judgement. MAN ALIVE! Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in what surrounds you or the projects you have your head in but the Spacedawg auto crosses were really a breath of fresh air. The smoke took me back to my first sativa experience in Amsterdam tickling hitting all the pleasure zones. No anxiety, just all the good stuff. This cross actually acted as an inspiration to get a whole load of new sativa projects rolling, so extra thanks to GBD.'

Upon receiving the Mitch stamp of approval I knew the project was everything that I had anticipated it to be, and the F2’s were set to germ immediately. The phenotypic variety was strong in the F2’s, and out of 47 plants only one auto female had all the Space Dawg traits that I had fallen in love with years earlier, but with a seemingly additional layer of frost! She was pollinated by an auto male from that lot with the same branchy structure and candy stem terps that I had known from the cut. At F3 she was extremely uniform, thanks to the attention to detail during the male and female matchmaking of previous generations, putting out three phenos. Two phenos shared the same early onset trich coverage and terp profile and varied only in the density of flower formation, the third had a notably different structure, obviously more Chemdogging dominant with terps that weren’t familiar to either parental strain. The plants of that third phenotype were all removed from the breeding program to help isolate only the traits that represented the original clone.

Strain Behavior and Structure:
Cosmic Queen is a medium to larger statured auto that’s an absolute joy to grow. She has a bushy structure, providing lots of side branches for floral clusters to do their thing, which also makes her an ideal candidate for training. With some light leaf tucking her satellite colas can grow damn near as big as her main. While her branches are stout, they do tend to spread out as flower mass increases, so some light support is advisable under certain conditions. She has a typical to slightly increased node spacing. Nothing outrageous, but at the same time a nice nod to the sativa side of her. She has thin leaves that start to accumulate frost early and heavy, providing excellent source material for extraction. Even her stems trich over!

Strain Figures and Info in Brief:
Indica/Sativa: 30/70

In good conditions she will deliver -

Cycle Time: 65-75 days from sprout
Size: 60-100cm depending on environment
Yield: 60-120 grams per plant, one test grower pulled around 240 grams from a single plant!
Best method for overall high yield: 9 plants per 4x4 foot in 5 gallon pots
Aroma and Flavor: Honeysuckle, candy necklaces, sun screen lotion, with a subtle gas behind the scenes. Like your favorite road trip to the beach!
Effect: A sativa dominant potent euphoric beginning, leading to a narcotic finish.
Best Grown: Indoor/Greenhouse
Flower Density: 7.5/10
Medicinal Qualities: great for mood enhancement, appetite stimulation, and soothing tired joints.

Further info:
Ease of grow- 9/10, just keep her watered and fed, she’s an easy going gal!
Trim Ease- 7/10, she’s not the quickest trim on the block, but isn’t verging on tedious by any stretch.
Frost Level- 9/10, she shines!
Bag Appeal- 9/10 chunky buds, that catch your eye from an arm’s length.
After cure aroma- 8/10 super sweet honeysuckle with a little cheese funk that can fill a room within seconds of opening a bag.
Potency- 9/10 share a joint with your friends!
Concentrate info- she’s a golden goddess, emanating those sweet floral candy terps in any form of extraction.
Overall Mephisto Rating: 10/10 definitely a must try for all Meph Heads, new and old alike!

Mephisto Genetics New Artisanal Strain: Creme de la Chem

CDLC strain image web.jpg

Generation: F4

Type: Auto - Feminised

Genetic Heritage: Stardawg Illuminati Cut x Chemdogging

Project introduction and Overview:
Chemdogging was released in early 2015 as one of our Mephisto Originals and has remained a firm favourite in it's pure form, but you know us, we just had to use it as a basis to create some fresh automatics!

So aside from the obvious similarities in genetics, why use Chemdogging as the auto parent? She's stable, she's potent - testing consistantly high for THC levels above 22%, she puts out intense aromas, combine all those factors and she's just an overall Decent with a capital D auto to work from.
We love her that much we've also used her as the auto parent to another new artisanal strain: Cosmic Queen.

From the offset when planning the project we wanted to outcross again to a photoperiod of exceptional quality, with shared lineage. After some trials and tribulations searching our stars aligned and we happened upon a cut of Top dawg Seeds Stardawg, specifically the illuminati cut.

Us Meph_heads are equivalent to magpies and shiny things but for frost. The stardawg produced real nuggets adorned with lashings of frost, in combination with super intense aromas it was a no brainer to utilise.

The initial F1 cross was made when we were doing some outdoor testing in Summer 2015, and over two years later we're able to finally release into the world this absolute joy of an auto.

Strain behaviour and structure:
Creme de la chem grows fast and thick with good vigor, she produces huge dark green fans and if you peer beneath them you'll see fast branching progression from early on.
She definitely benefits hugely from some leaf tucking/manipulation in order to get those lower branches up from under the canopy but once you do, the many secondary branches form a platform equal in height, with just the main cola poking out above.
Creme de la chem is a medium sized automatic, but if she's able to grow and branch freely, will often be as wide as she is tall.
She flowers at a medium rate speed wrapping up in around 65 days within a good environment. The flower formations result in golf ball (or often larger) round nuggets at the end of a branch, density is well well up there, it can certainly pay dividends to clear out some lower growth and lower branch nodes.
Creme de la chem is really a delight, both surprising and surpassing our expectations, she puts on a thick coat of sticky white almost furry frost, which contrasts beautifully against the cooler autumnal colours she puts out through her flowering phase as she gets her fade on.
As well as visual appeal, she ticks all the boxes in the smell department too. (Read: Odour control warning!) Smells emerge initally as quite sweet to floral, with hints of incense and spice. However as the flowers build the intensity of the aromas do very much so.
We'd definitely recommend CDLC as an entry point strain into Mephisto, she's deserving of a space in every garden and for us personally she's a strain we're going to put on repeat.

Strain figures and info in brief:
Indica/Sativa: 70/30

In good conditions she will deliver -
Cycle time: 65-70 days
Size: 55-80cm Height/Width 55-80cm
Yield: 90-120g as a single plant grow
Best method for overall high yield: 9 per 1.2x1.2 space in 12 liter pots under a 600w - 500g is obtainable.
Aroma and flavour: Varied delights from flowers and spices to incense with fuelly notes. Aroma and taste are STRONG!
Effect: Highly potent, long duration high.
Best grown: Indoor
Flower Density: 9.5/10
Cannbinoids: TBA
Medicinal qualities: Fantastic medicinal strain, aches/pains/insomnia all taken care of.

Further info:
Ease of grow - 7/10 - Some plant management required for best results.

Samsquanch OG

Mephisto Genetics New Artisanal Strain: Samsquanch OG

samsquanch strain image web.jpg

Strain name: Samsquanch OG

Generation: F4

Type: Auto - Feminised

Genetic Heritage: Yeti OG (loompafarms from seed) x 3 Bears OG

Project introduction and Overview:
Samsquanch OG was a project created and now crafted into automatic format to keep on our journey of continually trying to refine what we deem is our take on the ultimate autoflowering version of the legendary OG kush.

The seeds were sourced directly from Loompa of Loompafarms when we met at Spannabis in 2015, I think perhaps he was a little sceptical about autos, especially being chatted at by two stoned lads at a fair, however we said at the time, give us a few years and we'll have something nice to show, and here we are today!

This is essentially an auto outcrossed 3 times to plants of OG kush heritage, the first was our auto triangle kush (Triangle OGK cut x an old stock breeding auto) at f4 this was crossed to Bear OG from Karma genetics,
That was bred to F4 to be fully auto and named 3 bears OG, then the 3 Bears OG (Bear OG x Auto Triangle) was crossed to Loompa's yeti and inbred again until fully auto.

In brief the resulting strain Samsquanch OG, is a dank, productive strain, high in quality that is an explosion of taste and flavour. We'd never blow our own trumpets, but we're humbly very satisfied with the outcome.

Strain behaviour and structure:
Samsquanch is a vigorous strain, that produces very well in the correct environment. She branches very well indeed making multiple colas that are stacked with flowers.
Flowers grow compactly but your bush will be positively loaded with them. If allowed space she will grow tall and wide, we'd classify her as the large side of medium to the small side of large.
She is adaptable and lends well to training and would definitely benefit from canopy maintenance and clearing out any inner or lower flowering sites that won't receive much light.
With the extra size development she does take in the region of 70-75 days from sprout to complete her cycle, the results however are well worth the extra days wait.
To us personally we consider her one of the tastiest available, especially if you're into your OG funk.

Strain figures and info in brief:
Indica/Sativa: 60/40

In good conditions she will deliver -
Cycle time: 70-75 days
Size: 70-90cm Height/Width 50-70cm
Yield: 100-150g as a single plant grow
Best method for overall high yield: 9 per 1.2x1.2 space in 15 liter pots under a 600w - 500g is obtainable.
Aroma and flavour: Typical OG markers of taste and smell, earthy, heavy, pungent, sour, skunky.
Effect: Relaxing and sedative can induce a pleasant dreamy state.
Best grown: Indoor/Greenhouse/Outdoor
Flower Density: 8.5/10
Cannbinoids: TBA
Medicinal qualities: Increases a feeling of general well-being, can be used to good effect for appetite stimulation.

Further info:
Ease of grow - 8/10 - Good environment = no issues
Aroma level whilst growing - 7.5/10 Medium to high.
Trim ease - 8.5/10 - Easy going.
Frost Level - 8/10 Very nice, a proper greasy girl
Bag Appeal - 8.5/10 Supremely nice, lime green resin coated nugs that smell awesome.
After Cure Aroma level - 8/10 - High
Potency - 9/10 One to be careful with.
Concentrate info - 9/10 Super super tasty strain for any extraction work.
Overall Mephisto rating - 9/10

Samsquanch OG

Mephisto Genetics New Artisanal Strain: Samsquanch OG

View attachment 817674
