New Grower new small grow space

Wow I didn't expect a led to put out as much heat as hps. I can't even touch my reflector on 1000w hps. I had been thinking of just trying a mars 300. People describe it as just warm to the touch but what you're saying is heat is much greater than that. I've never played with an led may need to go by a shop and check it out.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN I have been lookin for the friggin BTUS of the different lights and maaaaaaaaaaaaan I am soooooooooo stoked to see the CMH's are that high(I am weird and actually need the heat lol)
315 is the wattage. At 43% efficient, heat is the remaining which is 57%. So 57x315=179.55 then multiply that times 3.14 which is how many btu comes from a watt of heat. So 179.55x3.14 =563 btu

Considering photo growers I know pull a lb per cmh the minimum 563btu of heat is very low.

bro I do NOT do math stuff anymore, I know that you know your stuff and was taking the btus as gospel! I am going to rock it out with these lol

Put a thousand actual watts of epistsr LEDs next to a thousand watts of hps and you'll see that they are the same. The 300 next to the name leads people to believe that it's equivalent to 300 watts but it's pulling less than 150 watts at the wall. The Mars work and many people here have done very well with them but honestly your much better off with a 250w hps.

I'm with ya. I don't mind busting out math when people are interested to hear about it though. My room gets warm no matter what I run. Math makes me feel better about it but my Ac kicking in says otherwise.

Yep and because I am going to be growing in a greenhouse in Colorado in the winter I NEED all the heat I can get lol

A Mars 300 is roughly 140 wall watts trey and $100 right? I don't know I'm guessing. But if that's even close it's costing 3.03 per par watt when buying a Mars hydro. Watts are 2 things heat and light. A par watt is the light end of watts. Now a kit from timber cost you jut above Mars at 3.22 a par watt. But the savings is 40% less heat. I know it boils down to money and guess what I bought 2 Mars myself lol. But I did tear them apart and add cobs and threw away the Mars stuff.

Lucky bastard! Did you get the commercial lec's? They have smaller reflectors for use inside green houses. Believe it or not they designed most commercial lights this way so they block less sun during the day. Smart people I tell ya

I think the mars is 80 bucks. It says true watts are 132. My main issue is heat I will have a 2x2 tent in a 2.25x8 space. Most times it will be open but for as many as 2 to 3 hours at a time it will be closed. If I can pull the .5 per watt off a girl I'd be very happy. But heat may be to great all together huh?

noooo I wanted to but I opted for the 630's instead, I can get around the sun blockage thing even if I have to move them every day lol
