Hey everyone! New to the site, and new to autoflowers. About to start up another grow, and wanna take a swing at autoflowers. I've got a few photo grows up my belt, so I'm not too clueless. Let me tell you my current system, then tell you what I'm thinking of changing to maximize my success with growing autoflowers for the first time. Tips and critique are very much welcomed!!
Tent: 2x4x6 tent bought from a local hydrostore
Light: HLG 260 Watt Quantum Board (fantastic board. First learned about it from the folks over at grasscity)
The strain I'm going to go with is Dutch Passion Think Different. I'm going for something that is going to have quantity, but also very good quality. Would be nice to have a good smoke supply!
I'm not sure how crazy big this plant gets, but I was thinking of getting 8 in there, using 3 gallon smart pots. Would that be overkill? I'm planning on creating a pvc scrog net, so any growth I'll just be training under the net, and since it seems like a 70 to 80 life span, I think that it would be perfect time and have the whole space filled with a nice canopy. Perhaps 6 could work well? Also, since you don't want to stress autos, should I use 5 gallon smart pots instead, or keep with the 3 gallon?
Lastly, I normally use just compost tea accompanied by a very nutrient rich organic soil for my photo grows. However, from the reading on here, I want to use Promix BX Mycorrhizae as my soil, since it has nutirents for just the first 14 days. I'll use the Roots Organic Buddha Grow and Bloom, along with their Trinity, Surge, HPK, HP2, and for the last one, I'll use cal-mag. I'll do that for 4-6 of the plants. I want to do 2 plants a little different. I've read a little about kind soil, and saw some positive reviews. So I want to do 2 plants with that, having it at the bottom, while use roots organic soil as the top half. The only feeding they'll get is perhaps a compost tea if they really need it. Other than that, I plan not to feed them anything. I want to test the two methods on soil and feeding to see which one comes out with the most yield, best flavor, best smell, and overall growing health. Whichever way takes the most points is the one I'll stuck with. Let me know your thoughts!
