New Grower New to growing. Need suggestion on a possible setup.

unfortunately i only have the plastic transparent cups that I'm guessing will be no good due to the light hitting the roots.


This will be my final pot. It's 10inches deep and 12inches in width. Would my method i mentioned above about filling the bucket up with all mix and then making a 4in whole in it and filling it up with light mix work?

Agreed. I think duct tape wrapped in camo would give them girls a sexy ass skirt. Hell you got the makings for a fine porno. As for bucket, add some holes on the sides as well. make holes like 1/2 big, be a great cheap ass air pot.

I've gone and cover the cup in gaffa tape. cut the bottom off now or just some little holes?

Ok you do it one of three ways,

With no helper to cut
1a) cut bottom now about 2 inches from bottom tape it in place with vertical strips.
1b) You can as well cut another cup and use that as a base to slide the taped up cup into as well.

With helper
2) when time comes gently tip cup upside down using fingers to hold dirt in. Gently cut bottom place in hole.


The grow box looks nice, When money allows grab some mylar or panda film, and them sexy girls be rocking.

Sounds dumb now, but when you make the cuts, be sure the blade is sharp as hell and cleaner then hell.
Also be careful not to cut yourself.

stoking has great advice though, all of his advice is very sound and some of the best I've seen.. it's complete, to the point and simple - you couldn't ask for much more.

Just to throw my in there man, I'd cut the drainage holes a little bit bigger.. being as small as they are, they're gonna be super simple to clog up.. you want your holes to be about twice the size they are. (on the final pot) :dance: The light is adjustable, right? You can bring it down some more? Donno if you mentioned that or not, I've subscribed to the thread so i can be a bit more active in it brother..

Sorry bro, I seen you were away, and he looked like he was ready to roll.

My old guerilla war fare buckets is what I would shoot for here is a description for your use.
1/2 or 3/4 holes in sides and in bottom be perfect. Place them everywhere. I would use a coco mat now, then I was using screen to keep dirt in, or layer of rock.
I had a bucket that was so drilled it looked like swiss cheese both top and bottom. It literally crumbled after first use. Perfect.

I would post a picture up, but at moment I ditched most of my old tools. Google homemade airpot bucket if need better idea.

Should note, be sure to clean the bucket several times.
To test and see if bucket is ready palce in bath tub and fill tub and bucket full of water. Count how long it takes to drain from full. 10 seconds or under timed, you have it nailed. That way moisture rolls out, and air can get in. Making it hard to overwater, and easy to flush, oxygen yada yada..

Note may need to water a bit more often, but sure grows nice trees.

Now now ladies. There's plenty of me to go around lol. Yes i can adjust the height of my light Whatsgoodie, i don't think i gave that a mention. Will customize the bucket tomorrow as the folk are around today. The bucket was covered in paint before i attacked it with white spirit but has since bin in the shower with me for a nice old clean up. I've just stuck my germd seed into the small cup of light mix soil so hopefully withing a few days she breaks the soil, then i will introduce her to light or should she already be under light? Thanks for all the input ladies and gents. It really is appreciated.

What paint was in it?

Plastic has a bad case of leaching shit. Sometimes you can't get toxins out. I hit bars and restaurants asking them keep me a couple buckets off to the side. Worse I have to deal with is pickle juice smell and the ph level the vinegar left behind.


Seedling is bringing a tear to my eye. Good work so far.

You want a cleaner journal, start a new page, you don't mind a little clutter, keep this one.

Personally I suggest dropping a link to a new one in this one so we can follow along.

just white matte paint i think. I got it all off and will give the bucket a proper clean after I've finished drilling all the holes out. Will create a journal thread withing the next couple of days. When can i water her?
