New Grower New to growing. Need suggestion on a possible setup.

i seen similar buckets but they did not say what plastic there made of so they might not be food safe

Hey Don.
To be honest I wouldn't have a clue what type of plastic the bucket is made from. When can i give my baby a drink?

Couple of good tips for watering -

One, use your smallest finger (hopefully your pinky, lol) and push it knuckle deep around the very edge of the pot to feel if the soil is moist that deep - if it's moist that deep - don't water.
When you do your first watering, feel the cup, pick it up - feel the weight. Do this with your bucket too, this is now your "fully watered weight", feel it every day and do the knuckle test. Once your knuckle is dry this is your "close to dry weight", let it go usually one more day UNLESS the plant droops.
Underwatering is MUCH easier fixed and has less adverse effects than overwatering. Especially a seedling.. overwatering can cause damping off, the seedling to stunt and give home to fungus gnats.

So, check your cup, how is it? I usually just use a spritz bottle for seedlings and spritz 2-3 spritz (it's not a lot, you want to keep it "kind of damp" not "wet" and not "moist" but "kind of damp".)
If you water too much, the seedling won't search for water and form a stronger root system..

Hey Whatsgoodie. So howz about that 1st kiss?:brow: aha . Soil was a little on the dry side so i have gone ahead and given here a spritz. Ahh thats what i wanted to ask. How far/close should my light be? its currently about 11 to 12 inches away from tip of my little baby also do i run a 20/4 light cycle from the start or do i leave the light 24 for the 1st few days? Here is a pic of Her (10hrs from when i took the last pic of Her).

Edit- Just want to apologize for my short blunt posts. I'm crap at this typing malarkey and struggle to think of what to type when sat in a hazey bubble.
When can i give people plus rep?

People run autos differently, your options for lights are..

24/0
20/4
18/6

I personally run 18/6, but I run a 600W HPS.. for my CFLs I run 24/0 until sex, then switch to 20/4.. I believe everything needs to sleep. 24 hours of light is also killer on the light bill.. just cutting down 4 hours a day is 120 hours of lights off a month.. roughly 360 hours (15 days) of lights off
over the course of the plants lifespan. More for plants that run more than 90 days. Saves a lot on the electric bill.

I'd run 24/0, 14-21 days. No longer than that and then switch to 20/4. I recommend 20/4 because you're running a CFL bulb. For a seedling I like to keep my light about 10 inches off. So 11-12 isn't bad - it will stretch a bit but I've seen plants get overwhelmed when they're just forming their first true set of leaves and the light is extremely close. Once your plant has 2-3 sets of leaves then you adjust the light according to how much you want the plant to stretch with a CFL, for a nice compact plant, keep it 4-6 inches from the plant, or as safe as you can without burning the leaves. For a stretchier plant, 8 inches would be the max.. Any more than that and you're asking for a long wiggly plant.
