Hi All ,stumbled on this site while searching info on Auto Pots ,I'm new to growing and started with a DWC setup but there are just to many things involved ,got root rot and other complications so changing to Autopot system .I'm NZ so some products I see on line arn't available here .So any advice about the best way to go about getting started would be great !!
Cheers Kev

Hello and welcome to AFN. We have quite a few members here using the Autopot system. I'm one of them and use straight coco coir in my pots. I precharge the coco with calmag and low dose of nutrients to start with. If you click the link in my signature it will take you to my grow that I have going on now and can see how I go through the grow. There are some that use a soil medium in their setups check out some of the grows from @pop22

@hecno is in Oz check out his grows, for using alternative products. If you are really stuck, good quality tomatoes nutrients work. Now you are on autopots in soil, which will be easier and more forgiving, stick with it. You will get set backs still, but learn from them, nurse failed plants to the end, they are great for practicing and learning. @archie gemmill has a very simple nutrient system using biobizz, if you can get that there.

Have they been through a good cold period? If not, put them in an air tight container along with some rice or other desiccant. Some place in the fridge, other's the freezer. Then there is scarification, soaking and the paper towel method, (which it wouldn't surprise me if you havne't already heard this, but just my 2 cents)! :headbang:

Rice keeps the moisture out! I put the seeds I make in rice right away and before refrigeration I replace with new rice (to make sure everything stays nice and dry)! If they get damp/wet, they won't be viable and you'll have germination failure! :headbang:
