Try clicking on auser's name, then clicking on '+ Add as contact'. That should work for you

thanks but i dont see that option either. i assume it would be grouped with the private message icons etc but there is nothing there of the contact or friend nature. i flaggeg my own post soo maybe a site person may be able to look at it on there end?

Ya I tried too no such luck! But I'm pretty sure I could request friends right from the begining! ...kinda strange! Hopefully site admin will get you figured out!
