Do cannabis seeds have a dormancy period ?

I have used seeds that were approx. 5-6 years old and haven't had a problem germinating them. I've seen other posts during my marijuana online travels that say 7 years. Keep them cold, don't keep them cold. There is always a fair amount of "who the fuck does know?" Archeologists opened a tomb some years ago that also contained marijuana and it was in very good shape.
