Hi All,

Just cropped two Star Ryder's and one of them has zero smell, nothing, not a wiff. I usually get bitched at during harvest due to the smell but not this time! Spent 3 hours trimming last night and downstairs smells clear.

Buds are numerous, fat and dense, covered in Trichomes but no smell, nadda, zip, not a thing??!! So weird.

The other (first) plant was smelly and is curing now. Smells and smokes perfect and hits hard, but I'm worried the second plant will be weak smoke. I'm not particularly bothered if there is no smell if it still packs a punch (would be good for stealth)

Grown in a heavily amended organic soil with some plant magic bloom and molasses to help her along and had zero issues other than fungus gnats that I dealt with using mosquito dunks.

Hope the buds aren't destined for the bin as the look epic :(

Anyone had a similar experience that can offer up any advice?

Cheers

Possibly different phenos between them? I remember Star Ryder as one of the smelliest strains I've grown! Pure mango-pineapple-bananas, the buds were fat and the smoke amazing
However, I had some bud rot due to fungus gnats that affected some buds that I trashed, but they were soo dense that I realized that only after detailed examination and those obviously had no smell. Hope it's not your case!

Hi Bushdktr,

Thanks for your advice, I'm hoping it's not rot too!

I've never had it before so I'm not sure what to look for, is it known to reduce the smell or does it "change" it? Buds don't smell mouldy or sour (if that makes sense?) they just don't smell full stop. Opened up one of the paper bags earlier and I can smell the paper from the bag more than the bud that's got at least 2 oz in it!! (sob)

I opened up the buds when trimming last night and have cut up the monster ones to under golf ball size because I paper bag dry. Dense and hard, covered in Tric's but no smell. They were very wet but I didn't see any signs of damage or rot other than one tiny 3mm suspect patch which I binned.

The lower parts of the buds that were below my Scrog screen were typically pale green and also bright pink. I've never seen this colour before but these are my first Star Ryder grows so not sure if it's part of the pheno? The screen was packed tight with bud so I took her a little earlier than her leaves were telling me to. They had just starting to fade at 85 days, the trics were looking mostly cloudy with a few ambers I didn't want any rot issues. The canopy was very dense with little light getting down there, had small fans pumping air up to keep the air moving through the plant, temps and humidity were all manageable, humidity climbed a bit last could of days due to rain but never exceeded 60%.

Thanks for your advice.

Put em in jars for awhile to cure and you'll get some smell.I just grew out 2 yoda dragons breathe and 1 had no smell but was still potent. Hope that helps
