Hi, I wasn't sure if I should have posted this here or what but I seem to have a dilemma. I am growing a couple diff strains from Vision Seeds however my problem solely rests with the NL strain. Last grow I had issues with PH about 70% through the grow and I attributed the crappy turnout due to taking too long to get it in check, I had bud formation (not too large but not small either) however there weren't any real signs of trichs (VERY little towards the end). So this grow I find that the NL is the same with the exception of the ph problem. The plant did get stunted due to a visiting dog chewing on her so she has topped off about 34.5" not too bad, and the buds are starting to form nicely, little slower than the rest again, but there are no I repeat NO signs of trichs yet. I have two autos, WW and CC and two photo KK's which were started the same time, the autos are almost finished (2 weeks) the KKs are about the same in bud production as the NL, they started much later too for photo reasons I guess, yet they are showing a nice frosty coat starting already. Not sure what's going on. All I know is that both NL's from Vision Seeds have not been successful while all the others with no change in feeding etc. have turned out just fine, with the exception of some stunting

So I am curious if anyone else has had issues with the Nl seeds from Vision, or if you think it's just that batch or something else. I'm tempted to just cut her down but I still kinda got hope. Any suggestions, thanks.

Northern Lights is not a 'White Strain' which I think means that it would have less visible trichs ... :dunno:

Proper nutrition can make a big difference too ... :tiphat::tiphat:

I've read how UVB light can cause more trics. Some higher-end LED lights come with a UVB bulb (like the California Lightworks). Something about trics being how plant's protect themselves against UV.

I've considered buying a reptile light to see if it makes a difference. Like a 10 or 15 UVB CFL. You could search for more info about that. I've heard it's necessary to wear eye protection when working around these lights. Maybe a remote switch so you can cut it off when you enter the area.

Hi, thanks Chester and az2000 for the replies. As for this white strain thing Idk, I do know that I threw away about 20g or more cause even after curing it didn't smoke for shit, not even a small amount of high, and I've seen some others that looked frosty, I apparently got a bad batch or visions NL is just not a good plant for me. The others seem to be just fine, real frosty and stink somethin fierce, especially the cream caramel. And as for the UV, I don't know anything about LEDs just yet, I want to switch so I can have a perpetual grow but right now I'm using HPS. I was also under the impression that trichs had a direct correlation with heat, it produces trichs to help. Maybe I'm getting confused, it's late and I haven't slept much the past week. Well thanks again. If anyone has experience with NL from Vision I'd like to hear about it, or intimate knowledge about this plant or why it might be doing what it is doing.

And as for the UV, I don't know anything about LEDs just yet,

UVB bulbs are CFL. Just buy a socket and reflector from the hardware store, and a UVB bulb from the pet store.

(When I mentioned the "Lightworks" LED unit, I meant that it has a T8 socket on it for a UVB flourescent tube. Blackstar has a couple units with sockets for CFL UVB bulbs. The idea is: this isn't a fringe concept. And, you can accomplish the same thing with any lighting.).

az, you are spot on about UVB and trich production!! I run dual LED's with UVB and am happy with the results.
Chesus pics 004.jpgBesides....whats not to like about this set up???

Hey Free, The NL could be a spoof with that batch of seeds. Dont give up hope!!! Grow her out to finish, and if she doesnt have many trichs, run her through to make some bubble hash or iso hash. Either way you would at least get something out of it, if it doesn't smoke well.

Hey az2000 thanks again for the reply, I am struggling with temps really bad right so I'm reluctant to add another light in my room but I will def try this. I actually have been saving up to get some LEDs to replace what I got now so I will def make sure that is included when I purchase, there's just so many people saying which spectrums and how much of each that contradicts the other that I haven't been confident enough to purchase either.

Hey Briman thanks for stoppin by and the reply, I'm actually an idiot, I have never made hash nor do I have proper tools apparently. I have researched and watched but those people used a set of straining bags that I don't have the $ for, I did however try to make bho, I got a make shift set up but there was so little that came from my trimmings and stuff=(crap load of shitty NL) that it really only gave us like 6 hits, lol that and I don't have the proper utensils to smoke that. Damn I'm just filled with all kinds of excuses. If you have a quick cheap solution I'm all ears, lately I've been too tired of reading endlessly for the info I'm looking for, especially since I've read most of it at one point just don't remember shit. Well thanks again.

Hey Faded thanks for the reply, I'm using FF tiger bloom and FF big bloom right now, I'll have to look into bud factor x. Does it work differently than what I'm using, if you know? I don't have any issues with my other plants producing trichs, just the NL, I'm actually growing WW from vision right now as well, my 2nd grow of WW from them also. Do you have a journal on here for your last and this one? Well, thanks again for the reply.
