Hey folks,

I'm back after a decent summer outdoor grow of some photos (Stacked Kush and Jack 33, both totally awesome strains) and now back indoors again with my auto setup :)

The moon's in a good cycle and I decided to germ a Berry Ryder seed yesterday and got her in the soil this morning. The goal this round is to maximize size and output and see how big I can get her.

The strain:

Auto Seeds Berry Ryder - No, I don't only grow this strain haha, I have an extra seed lying about from months ago.

The Gear:

FFOF & the nute trio. Will add some cal/mag at some point too. Feeding schedule is TBD but will be a mix of FD@AFN & the FF schedule. Air Pot 5 Gallon Equivilent - Figured I'd try one of these air port things based on all the AFN'ers using them. The larger size should help get the plant to maximum height.

I'm still using my trusty generic LED obtained from an auction site. There's no model# or anything, but it's easy enough to find, and is discussed a bit in the 'LED's direct from China' thread.
Advertised as 300W with an actual draw of 190W
96pcsx3watt Bridgestar LED
Spectrum of Light - 430~440nm (Blue, 14 led's),450~475nm (green, 10 led's) 620~630nm (orange, 62 led's), 650~670nm (Red,10 led's), and white, Real IR spectrum: 730nm

I've also thrown in a turntable to give my girl a nice rotisserie effect in the light :stylez rasta smoke: It turns @ 1.2rpm which is a bit fast, so will look into modding it.

Anyhow the seed germed and is now planted.

And a quick shot of everything in action:

That's it for now, back in a few days with some pics of the seedling I hope :beast:

She sprouted yesterday!

Cotyledons popped out overnight, the seed casing is holding on for dear life:

The light is on low wattage or veg mode at least for a few days, I may just turn it on full blast if she's looking strong.

i love the turntable idea. mind sharing any more info on it? where's it from and have you used it before with good results? I've wanted to do a rotating plant for a while.

Hey dude,

Welcome back. Keen on this one -- subbed!

Hey man, thanks for asking. I've also been thinking about rotating the plant for a while now. I generally turn my indoor plants every few days anyway, and one potential problem i noticed was that the lower branches sometimes only get a few individual LED's worth of light on em. The focal point of each bulb will hit the plant at different spots too it seems. So really I want to ensure that all parts of the plant get the light they want, and equally to ensure that parts of the plant don't overload on specific spectrum's. The spectrum's should all merge at a specific distance (20-24" I believe for my light), but the plant will cover about 3 ft in height, creating a potential coverage problem. This is also why LST is discussed a lot in conjunction with LED, and is something else I'm considering for this single plant grow as I have a bit of space to experiment with.

So what the hell... I figured for a small closet it makes sense to try a display turner. I do think it will positively affect my lower branches and buds. As I said in my earlier post I'd prefer to get the RPM down to 1 per hour or so, and the unit is pretty basic that I might get away with lowering the voltage. It turns both clockwise and counter, so that's a plus of some sort I figure. It may all be a load of goatwash, but it's worth a try I think. It holds up to 10kg supposedly, we'll see if it's straining to turn once she's tall and fully watered.

The 'display stand turntable' was acquired from the gloabl flea market that is ebay. I'll make a video at some point if it looks like it's doing something positive.

I guess this is day 2? Wanted to add a quick pic showing the seedling standing up strong for my documentation purposes.

Am running at 78-83F with around 44% RH. That's about the best I can do for RH without raising a risk of water caused electrocution .

can't wait to see how things develop. careful to not get the thing wet.

I hope that's a heavy duty turntable cause that's gonna be a big plant ...
I don't think 1.2 rpm is bad ... might find your buds growing sideways ...
Great Idea ... looking forward to learning something new ...

awesome Strain. Have there bro ...
Enjoy It and Get ready for a Monster !!!!

Day 5:

Sitting @ 1" tall, the first set of leaves have been growing at roughly 1/3 it's size per day. This seedling seems to be shorter with bigger leaves compared to my last berry grow. The only real difference is that I used LED here from day 1 as opposed to using CFL last time round, so maybe that's playing a part. Running 24/0 with veg and bloom turned on. Temps are ranging between 74-80 with 40% humidity.
