Trans Siberian auto from Attitude Seed bank
She and her sister are under a combined 270 watts worth of CFLs, mix of 2700 and 6500
In 3-ish gallon "pots" (modified plastic trash cans)
OF soil I cut with some MG Organic (maybe 75/25)
#1 at week 6, #2 at week 3
Here's the issue with #1 ... first off, i nearly killed her at the beginning due to overwater/underwater, inadequate lighting, and a cold ass grow room (basement + northeast + polar vortex = damn chilly). I fixed all that stuff and she pulled through, grew to about 6-7" inches before starting to preflower, and now she's got preflowers all over the place. I noticed the top growth started getting thin leaves and droopy, but thought maybe because it was slowing down in growth. Then couple days ago I noticed the dreaded claw leaf with yellow tips ... figure it has to be nitrogen toxicity. The soil is too hot for the plant, in part because I added in the MG like a digdong and in part because she's so runty that she can't use all the nitrogen that's in the soil. Looking back I guess, her leaves always tended to the dark green side (but one man's dark green is another man's healthy green imo). I haven't added any additional nutes at this point, though I do have
big bloom waiting in the wings.
So I kinda panicked and grabbed a gallon of spring water that I had in the kitchen and dumped it in there to give it a mini flush. I tested the run-off with some aquarium water test strips i had and the ph was 6.5-7 with the nitrates completely off the scale (as one would assume).
So my question #1 is: should I let her dry out and do a real flush this weekend? Will that give her enough time to recover given that she's pretty far along. I don't think she's kicked into true flower yet, but the cylaxes are definitely getting bigger and shooting out more pistils. Should I starve her for a bit after or get the big bloom rolling as soon as she's dried out from the full flush? Or just let it go and cross my fingers she'll actually produce something?
question #2: I assume her sister plant is going to run into the same thing since all the enviro elements are the same. The only difference is the plant itself: #2 has had a proper birth and transplantation, and she's produced these big fat first, second, and third leaf sets. It suggests she might grow big enough to actually use all that nitrogen in the soil. But should I flush her anyway just in case? And if so, when would be the best time? When I see the first preflower maybe?
Sorry no pics for now, but any suggestions from the community would be welcome.
