I have been gifted an old 180w marshydro UFO that a friend had bought but never used. I would like to know if anybody has any experience with these?
Also can anybody tell me what the output equivalent is on these if that makes sense ? 300w equivalent?

Actual draw will be in the 60-80W range, some of it from the fans. Youre ok for one plant. Add a couple of cfl lights and youre good to go for nice buds.

Thanks for that. I may use it to supplement my 600w hps. I thought the actual draw was 180w with a 300w equivalent output or something.

Not sure how it was before, but the current models definitely do not draw what the names suggest. They seem to use the added up maximum theoretical wattage of the LEDs for making that. Since your light has 3W chips i assume actual wattage will be 1/2-1/3 of max. So if it says 180, its probably less than 90. If it says 300 its probably less than 150 etc...

Ive some UFOs - not mars, but theyre all the same those first generations - and they can grow plants. But really youll want something like 100W actual draw per plant. And good spectrum, with some white and IR in there, or additional CFL lights.

I have a 125W panel that works great for a single plant (with fluorescent side lights), as good as 200W HPS, though different (buds and growth definitely not as dense, leaf structure is much lighter/smaller under LED). But its still great weed if you have good yield!

Thanks for your very informative response. Would it be OK to use the LED along with hps ?

Certainly! Make sure they are hanging at an angle by one of the legs around canopy level and youve a strongly penetrating source of additional light.

Wow, the UFO has been out of stock for around one year now. They used to be so popular with growers, it can replace around 100w HPS, I am sure you will like the old version UFO, and if you have any other questions, just let me know! I will help accordingly!

Jus got my old marshydro 180w UFO out. Glad to see this thread, there's not much else on the internet regarding effectiveness cheers 4 years later haha
