I am looking at getting an old style Mars 300 (100 X 3). I currently am running an Apollo 2' six tube t5. Would I see appreciable difference in performance of the 2 lights? I am particularly interested to hear from peeps who have actually run both LED and t5. Thanks for your input.:tiphat:

Nobody wanting to chime in??? Don't want to spend the money if I am not going to get any better results than what my t5's are giving. I don't know much about LED's and have been having a hard time finding any factual comparisons. My tent is only 2x4x5 ft. and by the time I get fans included, my actual growing space is about 2 x 2.5 ft. From what I can figure, they both have about the same lumens, so probably about the same results??:help:

I ran two 2'x4 bulb T5HO for veg at about 3.5 weeks now I switched to my Mars II 900W LED.
My grow space is 30"x30"x5'.
It's my understanding that LED will penetrate the canopy Better than T5HO.
I got my Mars on ebay for 200 dollars. I'd try to go bigger wattage than what your looking at.
I just took this pic.

I have 2 of the "old style" Mars 300 watt lights. I have no doubt you'll get much better results from the LED Lumens are of little value in rating grow lights. PAR is closer to being useful and the PAR value of LEDs far exceeds that of T5's. One in a tent that size is good. And T5's the bulbs need to be replaced about every 6 months as they get wekaer with every day of use. LEDs maintain their output for years, they are a much better investment

There is no better value out there than the 300 watt old model for a small grow room IMHO. I have two of them in a 3ftx4ft closet and they are great. No heat issues, they are quiet and there is plenty of evidence on this site alone of people having great results with them. In addition, now you can buy them on ebay cheaper than you can put together CFl, HPS, or T5 set up of similar specs. It is a no brainer for a small grow for yourself grower.

I just started using my 100X3 and I like it in my 3X2X5ft tent and I am using it with 2-bs240uv to flower in my 2X4X7ft tent. I also use 4ft t5s in the corners of my tents when temps permit or for germ.

I had my mothers under a 3' T5 2 bulb for ever and the top half was OK to say the best. The rest of the plant was dead or close to it. I switched out for 2 300w old style, 1 for mothers and one for my breeding experiment and EVERYTHING loves them so far. I have tons of new growth from the bottom of the mothers that were dying slowly from lack of light. The only thing is that you have to have about 24" of head room over plants so there is no bleaching. But for $76~ each is TOTALLY worth it!
