Hi all,

This will be my main thread for this years outdoor grow. I also plan to start threads in RCMC and Dragon Masters forums once these guys are ready to be moved to their outdoor homes.

Seeds were started May 4 by soaking in water overnight and then planting in Epsoma seed starter mix and placed under T5's. I started today putting them outside for a few hours to start acclimating them to outdoors.

There are:
5 Stone Dragons
6 Outdoor Auto Fem's from MJ Seeds (must have put 2 seeds in one of the pots)
3 Auto Berries from MJ Seeds
2 MOB x OG from Smoke a Lot Seeds (these were RCMC freebies) These seeds were very waterproof. After 24 hours of soaking they had still not dropped so I used a nail file to scuff the seed coat and that did the trick

I had prepared holes last fall with my soil mix but the area is still too wet so I may have to pick a new spot if things do not start to dry up some in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Oldster,

Love me some outdoor growin' Looking all pretty in the matching trays with the pots.

Good luck with your outdoor spot, if it doesn't dry up, try hitting Swampman up for some advice

Day 15 Update

Hi all,

Well it is day 15 and it looks like we will have warmer weather so plan to get these guys planted outside in the next couple of days. Instead of coming up with a new location for them I plan to cut the bottom out of some 12 inch pots and use them to make raised beds for the little guys. Hopefully this will keep their feet dry enough and still allow them to grow roots down into the wetter soil.

As I was taking their picture I noticed another visitor close by checking things out!

Well, ran into some issues with the soil I was using. I had run out of Pro-mix and purchased some Epsoma organic seed starter mix. The Epsoma must be hot or something despite the bag saying it contained no fertilizer. The babies started showing signs of what looked like Potassium deficiency and then nute burn. Did not figure out what was really going on until I used it on some basil seedlings and they started showing signs of root loss within a few days.

Rather than moving them into new soil in pots I decided to just plant them outside. When planting I noticed that no roots had grown beyond the original Jiffy Pucks they had started in so something about the Epsoma that the roots did not like. So far they are doing ok except for one that something ate but some are really stunted do to the soil issue.

To be safe I just dropped 10 more seeds just in case some of the original plants don't recover. By the way back to using Pro-mix. Pictures soon.

Good thing you got to learn without too much of a loss.

You got a better grasp on them this time 'O' round.

Great luck to you on this one this time out.

with your back up seeds, you should be off to the races.

Catch up later my friend, bye for now

I hope your babies are ok oldster. The stuff must have been mislabled or made on a Monday morning

Thanks Fairlynew, I checked on them today and they do seem to be improving. There were deer tracks all around them and 2 had gotten covered up by mulch that I had put around them but looked ok. I think I will make some temporary enclosures to put around them. Had intended to take photos today but forgot to take my camera.

Day 33 Update

Well the babies are surviving if not thriving. They do seem to be looking a little better but I am sure it will take them some time to recover from the root damage. Sprayed some more deer repellent around them and watered with some Superthrive. If anyone has any ideas for what might help them recover let me know
