Growing fruit trees can offer a pleasurable hobby for a home gardener or a source of income for a professional grower. Whatever the reason, people often decide that since they have the opportunity to grow their own fruit, they will make it as healthy as possible. Today, many people prefer not to use chemical pesticides when possible. Look for organic pesticides when growing fruit trees.

Tobacco Organic Pesticide
  • Add 1 cup of tobacco to 1 gallon of water. Leave it to sit for 24 hours. If it looks darker than the color of weak tea, add more water. Spray it on fruit trees to get rid of bugs, caterpillars, aphids and some worms.
Dishwashing Liquid Organic Pesticide
  • Place 1 tsp. of liquid dish-washing detergent into 1 quart of water, together with 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. Spray the solution on the fruit trees to get rid of ants, bagworms, blister beetles, bagworms, mites, slugs, scales and whiteflies.
Garlic as an Organic Pesticide
  • Get rid of aphids and apple borers by grinding up raw garlic and onions into a puree and soaking it overnight. Stain it and spray the liquid on the fruit trees.
Insect Organic Pesticide
  • Crush up 1/2 cup of a particular species of insect. Add 2 cups of water, strain and mix 1/4 cups of the solution to a few drops of liquid soap in a spray bottle. Spray it on the infestation to rid the fruit trees of that kind of insect.
Organic Pesticide for Fungus
  • Prevent fungus growth on fruit trees by mixing 2 tbsp. of baking soda, 1 pint of water and 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil in a spray bottle, together with 1 tbsp. of castile soap. Spray this solution on the fruit tree’s leaves every five to seven days.
Milk Organic Pesticide for Fungus
  • Protect the fruit trees from fungus growth by spraying a mixture of 50 percent water and 50 percent milk on the trees every three to four days.
Plant Garlic as an Organic Pesticide
  • Plant garlic around fruit trees to keep borers away.
Neem Organic Pesticide
  • Spray neem oil on the fruit trees to to make sure that ants, aphids, beetles, bagworms, boxelders, cankerworms, catterpillers, Codling Moths, weevils, mites, gypsy moths and thripes do not attack them. Neem comes from the neem tree, an evergreen tree in India.
Alcohol Spray Organic Pesticide
  • Spray an alcohol spray on the fruit trees to protect them from mites, whiteflies, slugs, blister beetles, ants, aphids and bagworms.
Raw Apple Cider Vinager Organic Pesticide
  • Keep mold and mildew from growing on the fruit trees by spraying raw apple cider vinegar on the soil or the leaves around the fruit tree.

Maul's Specific Organic Pesticide Tobacco Alcohol spray for thrips / mites etc.

Take a handful of roll your own tobacco or 5 cigarettes broken apart ,dispose of all paper. If you have a Mr coffee type coffee maker.Put the tobacco in the same place the coffee would go.Run a pot of water through. While it is still hot add 1/2 ounce of dawn dish soap or similar soap and stir. After it cools to room temp add 1 oz of rubbing alcohol.Mix 5-1 water to mixture.Put in a gal. jug shake well, then put some of the finisher mixture in a spray bottle.Mist the entire plant and topsoil.Lights off until treatment is done!!! Mist the plants 3 times the first dark cycle.Every 2 hrs or so.Then before turning lights back on mist with plane water.Repeat in 10 days to get any missed eggs. Then again 5 days after the last treatment.15 days to thrips be gone. But you will not see any after day 1.

How organic would it be if you used marlboro....

I'm presuming you need get organic tobacco or do you need all the nasty chems that comes in normal tobacco.

BAC Plant Vitality (+)/Plus (PVP) is a good organic pest control foliar spray that degrades in a few weeks and also acts as a stress reliever.
It is especially effective against spider mites as it kills adults, juveniles, and eggs.
It is said that it is safe to use up till the 3rd/4th week of flowering.

I like the castile soap organic option - I might have to give the girls a little Dr Bronner's just for a treat!!

Seriously though, I have noticed a little bug sitting on one of the girls - Ill try and get a pic so that I can see what it is (grr at bad eyes), possibly a gnat so might have to try the castile soap option...

I was gonna say... nothing about Dr Bronners peppermint soap? I use that all the time.

A big fan of the Dr B's Peppermint here too!! Does that mean you also use it on the girls as well as in the shower?

And the kitchen sink, and as a warm compress when I'm sick... all one! all one!

All one - Absolute!!!

Maybe we need a "uses for Dr Bronner's" thread on here!! It's damn good stuff!

I think rolling tobacco has less crap in it.

The cider vinegar and baking soda would neutralise each other if used together. I used neem oil and it worked well.

dr bronners soap is great too! i cant write it all out! :)

theres lots of "organic alternatives" to the chem shit... thats what im really sayin... :)
I want to build this section up more... been a hair busy lately tho!
