Hello and welcome to my to first ever recorded grow of sweet seeds sweet mix x 10 plus one afghan kush ryder ( the free seed ...... thank you sweet seeds )
my first ever grow was a very amateur event but i did manage to cross a hawaian fem with a super skunk male from sensi seed bank this was in 1991 and the resulting seeds were great probably more luck than anything else as nothing was ph,ed or measured ect .
this grow is basically to produce some seeds so i can go mad with them outdoors next season and to get my investment of £ 170 so far back into my pocket which is filled with a huge hole !!!
also to have a self grown smoke ( allways tastes better )
i have set up from scratch and grown for about 3 years untill my friend had to sell there house a couple years ago a 30 ft x 15ft sealed constant grow room in a garage which consisted of a clone area , veg area and budding area , it was a awsome set up which cost in excess of 4k to get right , carbon filters , intake and egsaust fans 18 ply insulation on every surface ( except floor ) which had thick plasic ,this was a very time consuming exersize and took about 3 days a week just to keep it flowing nicely but i had great results .
that is my total expierience in the growing field so now i move into new teritory outdoor auto fems !!! any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated , i have just put all 10 sweet mix seeds into a glass of bottled water in the window sill ( the temp there is 25 ) and i will be sitting the seeds into some round seed starter pads i purchased then straight into my small pots with a self pre mixed soil mix and lighly covered after 6 hour soak ,
my soil is a 3 part compost 1.5 part perlit 0.5 part vermiculite .
seedling soil mix is a compost ( no additives ) 1 part ,1 part perlite , 0.5 part vermiculite ,
ok thats the stage im at now and sorry about the lengthy txt i just wanted to let everyone know my growing backround .
right im off to stare at my seeds in the water ....lol
what a great feeling you get when you do a grow i have really missed it .
peace and light to you all

good karma to you and your grow, I will be along for the ride
:vibes:

don't expose those seeds/seedlings to light! hope that bottle's not transparent.

Sounds like your going to have a nice project! look forward to your grow journal!

Hi Pop , thanks for that advise as they were in a transparent glass but they are covered now so dark , i did not reolise seeds were light sensitive untill they popped ? i hope the hour they were exposed to light hasnt harmed them or my games over before its started and tears will flow :(

Its not so much while its still un-cracked but as soon as that tap root is out, it needs to stay in the dark. better the have it that way right at the begging as you never know how soon the seed will crack. I had one open in 12 hours!

thanks pop thats a relief but i put em into darkness anyways lol woulda been gutted if they had died as this is the first time ive ever germinated myself as i have allways had plants given to me or got other friends to germinate for me but this time its gonna be 100 percent my grow ....12 hours and one was out you say !!! i was going to leave them in water longer but will now take them out of water and into the soil mix . one question i have is that baby seedlings dont like direct sunlight but at the moment here in uk the weather is warm but overcast so would the seedlings be ok to be outside during daytime with some selofane over pot tops ?
thanks for the advise i really appreciate you taking the time to help out a novice germinator

they will be fine outside. don't cover them. You can give them a bit of shade for a day or two and be careful the don't get too dry. Your off to a good start, so don't worry, You find lots of help and friendly advice on AFN!

Jamestiger, for what its worth I use a different method for germinating and it works every time for me, so I'll share it with you and you might even try it next time. Loads of people do it, because it seems to work most of the time and it allows you to check the progress of each seed before sowing them proper. WARNING: you must handle the seeds really, really gently because the fragile tap roots can damage/snap so easily and thats more than likely game over!

Take a small plastic box (tupperware or other small food style box) and place a folded piece of kitchen roll in it as a liner, leaving one larger flap of paper to fold over the contents later. Wet the paper a little and it allow it to absorb some water but make sure there isn't too much excess, drain of any extra as you don't want your seeds sat in it. The paper should stick to the bottom and sides of the box even when upside down. Now place the seeds neatly (and not too close to each other) on the wet paper. Fold the extra bit over them gently and place somewhere warm and dark. You can check on them every few hours but mostly, good fresh seed normally takes 24hrs. 36hrs+ and you probably have enough root to gently drop each one into its new home. Give it a go next time and let me know what you think!
