Hi,

First time grower so apologies if this is a re-hashed topic.

I'm thinking of growing in the uk (scotland - 56 deg lat) and will be able to grow either outdoors or have access to a greenhouse.

Has anybody any experience of growing in this area and could suggest growing/planting times and strains.

Thx.

No experience yet, mate, but I'm not a million miles away from you and planning an outdoor guerrilla grow with autos this year. Will be posting whatever I get up to later when the weather gets better.

Strain-wise, so far I'm thinking Super Cali Haze, Sour Diesel Haze, dinafem auto cheese, Purple Mazar, Kush Van Stitch and Speedy Gonzales. If I had more cash to spend I'd be going for Dutch Passion autos for sure but I don't want to risk putting out 8 quid beans and then they get eaten by slugs, so I'm staying at the cheap end until I get a bit of experience under my belt (the SCH and cheese are expensive to buy but I got them as freebies).

I'm thinking to stagger planting from mid-April to late may in order to determine what is the best time to start around here.

Good luck with whatever you grow. I'll be cheering you on if you keep a log.

If you,re looking for super early photo strains with excellent mold resistance check out the highrise seeds section. The have autos as well. For your planting time I'd estimate some time around June 1st. In a greenhouse definatelly earlier. Hope this helps. :peace:

Thanks for both replies.

CP - Been considering GHS AutoBmb as that's meant to be ok for low temps, or some kind of AF white widow / Nthn Lights as have heard of some people having success with them. Would love to try the matanusca tundra seeds from Sagarmatha or DP's fresian Dew/Hollands hope but know what you mean about growing expensive slug food.

G - haven't seen the Highrise seeds section yet so will check them out.

What ever I go for, will post a log.

Cheers.

Checkout my growlog from last year in northwales, cant type at the mo sorry!

Cheers Maffro - have had a quick look at your posts for last year - some interesting posts and nice photo's. Definitely got me thinking about DP Fresian

Last year i did an early easy rider crop and started them in march, finished 2 in the windows and one outside, there wasnt much difference. Do you know when the night time temps get about 10 ? Thats the safe bet to put out.
I wouldnt bother with the hollands hope, try sensi's early skunk i had good results with that 3 years ago, got 10 autobombs for this year too, good to see more uk outdoor growers on here, big up for joining and hope to see some frosty Jock buds come August !

Greenhouse 45 Latitude

This is my dads greenhouse near Salem, Oregon. We are about halfway between the equator and the north pole, always around 40° F here in winter. I have really wanted to grow some autos in here but i cant so veggies herbs and spices are the next best thing. I usually have them on18/6 though you don't really need to have lights on all the time, just extend the day. It could be heated but I don't waste money on it when they do fine. I saw flowers growing around here outside up until the solstice and more started blooming weeks ago as spring comes closer.

Hey Salem, Portland here. Your autos wouldn't have really done anything in temps that low anyway. No worries, wait until summer and go do some guerrilla growing in the woods. Trust me, it works for cheap :D
