DP#2 aka The Runt

Biobizz light mix is the soil i used...
And yeah straight tap water from own well, ec 0-0.2.
Havent got anything to measure ph, but the officiel test results of the well said 6.5!

Could the paleness stem from:

• the 400w hps beeing too close?
• the soil beeing too "hot"?
• stress from the rought start theyve had, with me fighting to dial in the climate?
• no cal or mag in the water?
• PH issue?
• or something completly different?

Anyone who can help pinpoint whats going on, would be greatly appreciated.

I have been waiting 4 days for Rhizotonic to arrive, since i figured they could need the help, but fooking mail man is screwing me over.

Could Rhizo or CalMag be the solution, or am I overreacting :)

How close is your light? Are there any nutes in the soil? It's to early for cal-mag issues. If you havn't used nutes yet ph shouldn't be the problem.I would just use plain water for another week than start feeding a weak solution of nutes. They really don't look that bad so just give them time to build there root system and make sure the water gets all the way to the bottom of the pot.

They do appear to be lacking in the nute department. Particularly N and K, but probably accross the board. How old are they? What kind and how much nutes have you added. How far away do you have your light? Can you hold your hand at the top of the plants and no problem with heat? How large pot are they in? Is it straight biobiz, or has other amendments been added?

I guess you did say they were on day 8 sorry. The DP 1 is the worse off. I would start her on 1/8 strength nutes and see if she doesn't pop right away. NamVet is spot on that you are too early in your grow to have very much wrong with your soil, unless it started off wrong.

Had a few issues in the beginning, mainly low RH ~ 35.. put domes on them to rectify. Temps have been ok at 26, with flux around 22-30.. but mostly at 26.
Light is 50cm above plants, but have been closer when i first turned on circulation fan and saw temps drop to 19.
Hand test is no problem.
Installed oil rad to stabilize temps and are now sitting at 26.
No nutes only plain water, with very low background ec.
Top of the pots have been kept pretty dry, giving them 100 - 150 ml a day, cause i could feel there was still plenty moisture in the bottom of pots.
Pots are 16liter fabric smart pot equivelant.
They had a rough start, but have been recovering fine with new growth looking good, bit pale.

Could go in with Rhizo (once it arrives) and weak nutes on the DP#1 and watch for changes. But did think the light mix would carry me through at least the first 10 days

Oohh, and thanks a ton for the input guys;)

For comparison here are the plants at Day 3:

The oil rad has pushed temps up, so i can raise the light again. Think it was to close for the babies.
Got some pics while i had them out of the tent:

DP#1 showing growth, but is very light in color.. could that be light bleach?

HS#1 burnt tips, maybe from the light mix not being so "light"???? Or damage from lamp beeing close??

HS#2 seems to survive me snapping the stem or some of the roots?

DP#2 the one that was late to the party, and fan leaves are still smaller than the first set. Hopefully building roots and comming back with a vengeance;)

Hey at @BadMF biobizz lightmix shouldnt burn seedlings, and should keep them fed until dsy 10 or so. So barring a bad batch i would rule out soil. Can you test some runoff of a soil batch?
are those 3 day seedlings under the 400w at 50cm too?
Thats too close for sure- even if it passes the back of the hand heat test light intensity is too strong for seedlings.
If your ballast is dimmable go 250w for first week at least. If not raise that light to anout 100cm/3 foot for the first week to 10 days then slowly start to lower it.

It was at more like 30cm, but only for a day.
I have a 250w bulb, but the temps where the tent is is around -3 degrees. So installed the 400w.

Anyways thanks for the help, i would agree that light intensity is part of it;)

The last 4 days it has been at 50-70cm above plants.
I will see if i can get it higher without temps suffering;)
