Pete's Backyard runs and funs

Hi Stinky . First up , if you want to stop mold you can do what I do , use a home brew bubbler

That's a great idea hecno. I actually have a couple left from a friend that he gave me. Never had use for it........till now. Thanx man

if it is a mushy mess still , it means you have not added enough sugar

I thought so. To yell the truth is did not measure my ingredients. I just guessed it with the eye.

If I remember right it is very cold where you are now , so in your spring when everything is flowering gather a mix of flowers and try that

We are in middle of winter now. And I think I should wait till spring to start everything again. I was just so amped when I read that article that I just wanted to start immediately.

Thanks again for the help.

So it kinda sucks that its winter. Well not really though,we all need to shut off and follow the way of nature ,buy it sucks in the sense that I can't make stuff till it get hotter.

But I found something I can do so long and that is to make some CalPhos which I want to use on my photo plant when she goes into flowering. But that's still a couple of months to go but to have that ready can't hurt.

The recipe calls for white vinegar but I am a HUGE fan of ACV ( Apple Cider Vinegar ). So I will be substituting that for the White Vinegar.

I have quite a few egg shells cause I just love eggs.

As soon as my CalPhos is finished I'll post the process with the pics.

Ok so once again all my pics are uploaded sideways. Still can't seem to finure out why......

But anyway back to whats up.

The recipe called for Egg Shells and Vinegar. I love eggs so there is no shortage there. I used Apple Cider Vinegar. Seeing that I'm all for Organic do's and donts I am using raw unfiltered Vinegar that still contains the mother.

I fried the shells until some went black and then I ground them up. I am not making a lot cause I want to test it first to see if I am successful of not.

I used a small honey jar but I made a mistake. I started bubbling crazy and started to run over. The bubbling is still continuing and will wait for it to stop before I seal the jar for 20 days

Not much effort at all and for the benefits it gives I can't believe everyone is not making it.

So there was some sun today and I did some work in the garden. Smoke some pipes drank some coffee, did some bonsai training and took some pics of the things in the garden.

The worm bins is doing really good. They are loving the Horse Poo that's in there. I took a 5L bucket and filled it halfway with Horse Manure to dry out a bit. I want to make a tea from it at a lafter stage. The inner core of the bin is warm so things is decomposing in there. The pot to the left is for size comparison.

The clouds started to come over and it's getting cold again. Time for warm clothes, more pipes and more coffee.

Here ya go Stinky . My egg shell pile , I leave the in the sun to dry out , then when I get enough I crush them up heat them and put them in a coffee grinder which will turn them into powder to make it easy for the vinegar to work .

So I send out a few emails asking for horse manure to use for making compost and compost tea's. Also for the garden and for growing mushrooms. It's funny that no one wants to part with their shit. But one lady replied and I got the greatest deal. A 1000L of horse manure for 5 bucks (roughly calculated from our currency ).

So tomorrow morning me and my 7 year old daughter is gonna go and pick up some gold.

I'm still trying to get hold of Lama manure. There is a few farms nearby but they are quite stuck up. It has a lot of Phosphorous and I would love to have that by end of season for all the flowerseeds and veggies.

I'll post a pic of all the prize is got tomorrow.

Here is my CalPhos after 25 days of fermenting. There is still a thick layer of shell and a thin layer of black shell.

I think it's to course. Already started gathering more shells to try again. This time i'll use white vinegar as the recipe originally calls for.

I'm going to drain the liquid and let the shell crumbs dry out and make it more fine and try again. I'm not to sure but I don't think to much dissolved in this 25 days. Maybe due to the cold......
