Hi All i have a a super hash that is in roots organic it is 36 days old and after figureing out how to work the ph meter and adjusting my water after adding nutes
my last water went in at 7.4 and came out at 5.4 so if i have figured out how to do the math, that would mean my soil is 3.4:help: how can i fix this.can i water in lime
and should i ph my water up to 9 or10 . I gave it 1/4 tsp sea grow 16-16-16
but no cal mag on 20th of month and didnt adjust water ph ,so I think I know how i got in this mess and know enough now to not let that happen again but how can i get it corrected now any thought are welcomed.i know now to add some lime to roots
before i plant:D

Hey namspy I had similar issues.....

Are you calibrating your meter first of all? Are your plants showing any distress? If not if it aint broke dont fix it. This may stir the pot but organic soil has a way of buffering what goes in so even with some wacky ph readings it still works. Maybe why some dont use a ph pen or do so only when issues arrive.

For now dont panic especially if the soil got very dry. Next water if the problem is the same you have a choice. You can fight the ph the rest of the way and water high to raise the ph (not so high you do more harm). Or you could flush with 3x the pot of 6.8 water then top with a 1/4 strength feed.

I did both the results may surprise you. I ran four plants before adding lime. The first 2 I fought ph to the end. They didnt look like supermodels but the buds never stopped growing and I got 2+ oz.
The next two I flushed about 35-40 days in when the problems started. After the flush the plants were stunted stopped filling out I still had some ph issues and the yeild was 50% less. Same two strains same size pots feed soil. This is only my experience and others may differ take from it what you will.

I am stubborn and stuck with Roots adding lime and dunks (gnats) it seems better. Since I started amending used soil it seems even better. Time will tell....

:peace:

Hey musturd thanks for ideas and help ,I think i have a little stubborn here also I decided to go with roots and will learn my way throught it I am calibrating my meter with 7.0 solution and when i tested my soil with a soil meter its is reading
around 6.5 i have the one with the 12in probe but wasnt sure how accurate it was. since the two pk's are at 56 days i decided to just flush them out and will probably pull them in couple days most all trics are milky.i have started tow more pks
and i had read your thread earlier about adding the lime and dunks so added the lime in these and have more of a handle on the ph when i first gave these two nutes i didnt adjust my ph after i added the nutes to my water so itwent downhill from there .Like you said these two pk's arent supermodels but have some nice bud growth.cant hardly wait to post the smoke report:D

Good stuff Namspy but.... I noticed you were using a meter for input and a soil moniter for soil ph, now depending on two instruments. why not ditch the soil moniter, (unless it was $$$ it is rarely reliable) and use the same ph meter to measure in and out. I know you can calibrate a ph pen not sure how you can check a soil moniter.....

:peace:

Depending on the soil Ph tester, that is more accurate than testing your in and out. :D

I have the accurate 8 with the 12in probe thought it was a good one and whenIi used it yesterday before I wattered my soil tested 6.3to 6.5 range .Then I calibrated my oakton with a 7.0 solution I ph'ed my water to 9.5 and my run off was
5.6 on one pk i watered the other one at 9.5 and run off on it was 5.7 :shrug:i hadnt used the soil meter since week 2 just the oakton water meter.but i think my real issues started because i added nutes to my water and then didnt adjust my ph in
:o
