New Grower ph meter

I'm currently using the add drops to water and match the colors ph checker:no: and I hate it, match the colors? seriously? I'm a newbie and on a small budget what can I sayStones slap?
Which is the most accurate way to check ph, soil tester or water tester or ____?
Please tell me what you use, the price and where you bought it.
Please only moderately priced meters, say less than 30 bucks.
Edit: I'd like to hear about meters you use and are satisfied with. Maybe $30 is too cheap for a good meter?

Do an online search for hydro stores and see what you can find.

I can buy one in Canada for $30 so you should be able to find one in that price range.

Thanks lazylathe, I edited my op to clarify. I am looking more for what someone has used and is satisfied with. I've done the "buy the cheapest item and find its a piece of shit" more often than I wanna admit. I cant go cheap for my baby.:key:

I am using a hanna combo meter 98129 ppm/tds/ph c/f
it's my second grow with it, and i have only heard good thinks about it.
it's on the expensive price tag.
