Hi everyone-

I hope someone can help me!

I only grow one to two plants at a time, because I have no space. I use the MOST basic setup---a pot, some dirt and a compact fluorescent bulb.

This has worked well for me, up until recently.

The last 4 plants I have started have progressively turned brownish and dried up and died!

I am doing everything the same way I always have done, so I can't figure out why all of a sudden, plants are dying.

I am using no nute soil.
Compact fluorescent bulb.

The current dying plant is only about a week and a half old.

It looks like it needs water, because it looks like it's drying up (that's how it appears). But, I think I have given it plenty of water.

I thought maybe the light was drying it out (being too close, too hot, etc.). But, it's at the same level that I used successfully in the past.

So, each plant I've started recently (the last 4) have gone through this same thing. They sprout and look okay. Then, a little while later, the first leaves (the most bottom leaves) start to look dried out, then it spreads to the whole plant, until it's dead.

Does anyone know what this could be???????

I've attached a picture, but I don't know that it is good enough quality to see what's going on.

I use the ganja for pain control (which is amazing), because I have some health problems that leave me in constant pain. I can't afford to keep starting and losing these plants.....it will leave me without any ganja----which means no pain relief!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone can help with this, I sure appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

Sivaji

Why don't move the light a little higher,
After she gets a little bigger you can
Move it closer, kind of looks like bleaching.

The light is only a regular, household compact fluorescent---that's why I have always kept the light source close to the plant, because the light is so weak.

On previous plants, which turned out successfully, I had the light even closer than it is now and they had no problem.

So, do you think the light is really too close or it could be something else?

I will follow your suggestion, however, and try moving the light farther away.

(The reason I kept the light close was because it was weak light---and when the light was higher up, the plant seemed to try to reach it, which caused very long main stem.)

Thanks for your input!

That's not light bleaching. Bleaching starts at the center of the leaves and works out toward the edges. I'd be curious to know more about your soil. From the looks of it I'd guess that it's Miracle Grow. That could be the issue. I also don't see any perlite in the mix. That's pretty much a necessity as it helps keep the soil loose and allows oxygen to reach the roots.

The soil is just plain topsoil---no nutes, just dirt.
I've used two different bags of soil since this started, but the result has been the same.
