Hi all,

I'm going for a second run in my little stealth cab, which has had a makeover, and this time I will be giving auto seeds a try with their polar express (PE) and pineapple punch (PP).

The cab is still using a 150W hps, but with a cool-tube rather than the over-sized reflector I had before. Also using a mini carbon filter (75m3) and changed the mylar lining for panda film. All this means there is a lot more space and the whole thing is tidier, the right temperature and way quieter thanks to only using one fan (i think 190 m3/hr).

I put 3 PE and 2 PP in jiffy pots yesterday after soaking them for about 24 hrs (they had all sunk to the bottom). I will transplant to 1L pots and a few lucky ones may end up tiered into 7L smart pots.

I am using canna seed mix right now and will transplant into plagron pro mix. I will be using plagron alga bloom & green sensation, canna rhizotonic & pH down and some miscellaneous veg nutes if needed.

Nothing more to say really, other than that I have attached some before and after shots of the cab and will supply more pics once things have developed a little further. (the first two pics are after, the 3rd is before)

Of course all comments and advice are very welcome.

:peace: Happy Growing

1st update: germination and transplant

Hello Readers,

Since I started this thread, 3 of the 5 seeds successfully germinated leaving me with 2 pineapple punch and 1 polar express. Asides from the blow to my ego, I am not fussed about this as it simply means I will grow in bigger pots and lst like my 1st run in this cab and I won't have to water twice a day :D.

I have no idea why the two PE didn't germinate, as I did everything the same as I always do but I have noticed that the pH of my tap water has gone from 7 to 8.5. Could this be the problem? Needless to say I will be adjusting my water from hereon.

I transplanted from the pete/jiffy pots to 1L pots yesterday when I noticed the radical of one of the PPs poking out. This is my 1st time using jiffy pots and I've always been told to cut an X into the bottom prior to transplanting. I did this and cut through the radical:cuss:. Luckily the PP seems fine today and appears to be growing just fine. I actually did the same thing when tier transplanting a lowryder#2 and it was fine too, so maybe damaging radicals isn't as severe as people say.

Temperatures and humidity have been just dandy with the new cool tube, ranging from 23-26C (day time) and 60-65% humidity. Humidity could be a little higher but it is fine in my books.

That's all for now folks.

P.S.

Apologies for the cruddy photos.

got some stretch do ya.......you could probably move that light to 6 to 8 inches. tearing works great and its easy, were those nature pot or somthing of the sort ....

haha cheers dude, it's the thought that counts. It's a really easy transplant method to be honest and it works really well.

Well spotted and funnily enough, just after I posted that last update I moved them to within ~6 inches from the light. They're looking happier for it, but could still look better imo. Dunno what I could do to improve things though. Yes those were jiffy/pete pots. 1st time using them and I quite like them, but you must keep an eye on them as the radical can pop out in just a couple of days.

Thanks for stopping by guys!

hello AFN,

just a very quick update on the younglings today.

As you'll see in the pics, I have moved them closer to the light (within 6 inches) and installed a little comp fan which I have on the lowest setting. I turned it off yesterday evening cos I thought they were getting blown around a bit much. I then went out for the night and came back to find them obviously heat stressed although it was only ~17.5 C. Lesson learned. Fan stays on.

I added a pic to show my current feeding regime, ie. canna pH down, canna rhizotonic and a little liquid pH test kit. pH was 6.5 today.

Lastly, does anyone else think they look a little small for their age? they are under 8 days old but I can't be much more specific lol. still enjoying my previous harvest :smoke:

That's all folks

transplant to 2nd and final tier

Hello Again,

Today I went and bought three 7L pots, after which I discovered that I can only fit two pots that size in my cab. I tier transplanted the two lucky winners and that's that really.

I watered with rhizotonic afterwards and have been watering with the same feed mix every other day till now.

I discovered that my res had a load of gunk in it so gave it a thorough clean. I seriously hope I don't get any mold as a result, fingers crossed.

I am keeping the untransplanted PP, partly for a little extra bud, partly just to see what happens. Also, if it turns out in the next few of days that I botched the transplant with either of the others I still have that one as back up.

The transplanted PP still looks a little yellow, does anyone have ANY idea why this might be? the only thing I can think of is that the soil is a bit rich, but it's only plagron grow mix...

All comments are welcome
