How old you guys pot up? I got my girls in pots not the smallest but no way big enough they are 14 days today and my soil isn't here till tomorrow :/ will I stunt them?

Hiya the general knowledge/procedure with auto's is that you should either plant the seed in final pot or pot up within 14 days into final pot so I would say do it now and do it with as much care and as gently as you can so not to shock the plant. As a rule 10L + pots are suggested.

I doubt you will stunt them just treat them extra gentle and don't firm the soil in too hard around the old root system, just be soft and gentle and try and minimize trauma as much as possible.

It would be a good plan to water them today gently not a full saturation watering but dampen the entire existing pot and let it drain off, so the rootball/compost does not disintegrate when you turn the pot over and cup it in your hands.

Then prepare the hole of just the right size before gently placing into the new pots hole, very gentle watering in (around the edge of your old compost/new compost border this will coax the roots into the fresh compost) and don't overly compact the new compost which surrounds the rootball, this allows the existing root system to easily grow into the fresh medium with airy spaces not hard compacted compost. Keep your temps optimized and probably keep nutes (if at all) to a minimum for the first week, keep everything spot on so not to introduce firther stresses, the fresh compost should have good nutirition from the get go.

good luck you should be sweet.:peace:

I am no expert but just apply my common sense.

Lots of luck with the transplant:smokebuds:. How big of a pot are they in, right now and how big of a pot are they going into.

This is what I do: If you can live without that little pot they are in and its plastic, I take a knife and gently cut the bottom out of the little pot and and place it in a bigger pot of dirt (tiered method). That way you don't handle the roots at all:thumbs:. Be careful not to cut the roots if possible though. I have tiered 6 inch pots into 2 gallon pots with no problems. Just throwing my method out there.

I mostly just use 32 oz cups to start my seeds in, and then when they sex, I tier that cup into its final pot. Hope it works out for you:wiz:

I'm not worried about the actual potting got a few under my belt now lol bragging a little. It's more me being worried the roots will fill the whole pot and stunt the growth that way. Soil and digi ballast is here tomorrow and the biggest looking girls have gone into their final 9litre pots as will the rest.

at such a young age the root mass wont be at pot bound stage just yet you will be fine just make sure your soil isnt to wet when you transplant them to avoid roots snapping coz of weight of the wet soil :D

i doubt you will do them any harm.. i have left it longer than i should have before and though i had buggered it as a couple of the CJ's looked rootbound, but they just exploded with growth when potted up and went on to produce 5oz plus per plant...

Hi Stylez,
I am a newbie and I have seen many of your posts, I think you give sound advice so I have a question, well two actually the first one is about the tiering up, when you cut the bottom of you cup out what do you do about the sides because surely the roots don't just go down..

2. About this site, if I search is there anyway to keep the results available or do I have to re-search each time after reading the results?

thanks for your time,
